BSO Deputy Rams Into Teen Cyclist Before Tackling Him
The Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) is under fire after a deputy was caught on video hitting a teenage cyclist with his car and then tackling him to the ground. On Monday afternoon, the last day of Spring Break for Broward County Public Schools, a group of about a dozen teenagers on bicycles had gathered in what appeared to be a residential neighborhood in Deerfield Beach when a BSO deputy rammed his gray, unmarked Chevrolet SUV into one of the boys. As the small boy limped away and tried to get back on his bike, the officer — wearing a BSO uniform and a ski mask — exited his patrol car, charged at the child, and wrestled him to the ground. "Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop!" the boy cried. By then, several other marked BSO police cars, along with another unmarked car, had arrived with their lights flashing. The video, apparently filmed by one of the teen cyclists, ends shortly after. |
