71-year-old Woman with Gun, Shot and Killed by Port County Cops
Port Orange, Florida. Linda Jean Croteau was a 71-year-old woman who died following an officer-involved shooting outside the Port Orange Police Department in Florida on September 3. At approximately 8:35 a.m., Croteau walked into the lobby of the police station carrying a gun. A few minutes later, she fired a single shot toward an area where civilian staff members were working. No staff members or officers were injured by the gunfire. Croteau walked out into the parking lot, where responding officers repeatedly commanded her to drop the weapon. When she did not comply, officers opened fire, causing her to fall to the ground. While on the ground, she sat up and reached for the weapon again, prompting officers to fire a second time. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day. Family members noted that Croteau had recently lost her husband and was dealing with emotional difficulties prior to the incident. However, an official motive remains unclear. |

Re: 71-year-old Woman with Gun, Shot and Killed by Port County Cops
I guess I'm not following the logic here. If you have a gun, and want to die, why involve the cops in it all? You could totally (ideally) skip the having to suffer and die the next day.
