On Monday, September 28, 2026, during a student blockade at the Château d’Épluches vocational high school in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (Val-d’Oise), a 14-year-old pupil was struck in the face by a projectile from a police Cougar grenade launcher fired at very close range.

Videos show the minor approaching officers, receiving baton blows, kicking back, falling, and then being hit. He suffered several broken teeth and was taken to Pontoise hospital.

The Pontoise prosecutor confirmed the sequence from video evidence and opened an IGPN inquiry into the shot, plus a separate probe into alleged violence by the student against a female officer.
