14 Year Old Female Student Stabs 7 Elementary Students Inside Classroom
A horrific knife attack left 7 elementary school students (Grade 5) injured inside a private academy in Cavite, Philippines, exposing severe gaps in campus security and student mental health oversight. The incident took place at around 8:30 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Bethel Academy in Barangay Sta. Clara, General Trias City. The assailant is a 14-year-old female student enrolled in Grade 8 at Bethel Academy. Some of the fleeing students were caught from behind. Most of the victims sustained deep lacerations and stab wounds specifically across their backs. While all seven victims survived the attack and reached the hospital in stable condition, two students suffered life-threatening, deep tissue damage. An initial investigation conducted by the Cavite Provincial Police Office revealed that there was no clear provocation or established motive for the stabbing spree. There is absolutely no evidence linking the event to bullying, school fraternity/gang initiation or peer group conflicts. The 14-year-old suspect was a newly transferred student at Bethel Academy. She did not know any of the fifth-grade children in the lower-level classroom. She walked down from her second-floor room, entered their first-floor classroom, and began swinging the kitchen knife indiscriminately. The attack was physically possible because the school’s teachers were gathered in an unannounced internal faculty meeting, leaving the classrooms entirely unsupervised when the suspect walked in. A teacher eventually intercepted and disarmed her. The 14-year-old female attacker was taken into immediate custody by social workers and law enforcement. She has been placed inside a specialized mental health facility for a comprehensive psychosocial and psychiatric evaluation to discover the root psychological cause of her sudden violent behavior. This tragedy, followed shortly by another school stabbing in Cavite City on June 19, sparked massive pushback from advocacy groups like the Alliance of Concerned Teachers Philippines. They are demanding that the Department of Education aggressively accelerate the hiring of licensed guidance counselors and mental health professionals to identify troubled students before violence occurs. |
