Yes I got my ass kicked by a buffer too, the first time.
Me to I was bored at work, so asked if I could use the floor buffer. It immediately pulled itself out of my grip, shot off, flipped over and crashed into a load of stock

Reminds me of the time i was in the hospital, one of nurses decided to have a go with a buffing floor cleaning machine, her words, "always wanted to try one of them"..switched it on, pressed the leaver on the handle it shot away from her, and went straight through a door smashing the glass and headed towards a patient on a trolley, thankfully, her and another nurse caught up with it in time
My Granny used to use a floor buffer with one hand, I had a go and lost control, there is a knack to one of those.

Yes there is, my wife is domestic engineer [cleaner]..what she said there is definitely a knack to operating one alright ..
