Well, now that's weird, lol: watched it many times, he actually looks to appear from nowhere. Found some info, not sure they're accurate, but maybe someone will find the same scene taken from a different angle.

This is from the 2009 Western Conference finals, and we have no idea why it just showed up on YouTube yesterday. But watch at the 0:07 mark, when linesman Brad Lazarowich enters the picture, seemingly out of nowhere. We've watched this about a billion times, and we think we've figured it out: it's magic.

The only MUNDANE explanation would be some trick of perspective + fast moving speed on ice + camera movement:

at 05:00 you can see some referee in the background,


maybe he made some turn and passed in front of camera while he was hidden by some players, like in this frame, for example.


But that's just some possible explanation. Another video taken from a different angle would clarify it for sure imho.

You get a glimpse of the ref just before 4 seconds (left of number 88 Kane) and another glimpse just before 6 seconds (behind the other ref.) I don't think it was the ref at 5 seconds on the right.

i see him at 3 secs on the left than the other ref and the player blocked our view when he skates towards them.
