I'm all for the policy of equal pay for equal perfomance, but in my personal experience that rarely happens. Many women I've worked with come in late, leave early, miss days for 'personal reasons' call in sick or their kids are sick, miss work for family reasons (or to have their kids) and for plenty of other reasons. Then they take multiple breaks (bathroom cliques), 2-hours lunches, etc. I once worked with a woman who bitched that others were paid more that she, but she'd spend hours on the phone calling stores (pre-internet days) looking for certain items so couldn't find when she went shopping...

Of course there are exceptions and real career women, but aside from equal STARTING pay, the rest should be based on merit and performance..want to be paid the same? Then work AND produce the same or more.
