Re: This is Low!
Listen...I see both sides but the fact is the "single mom" could have spent that money more wisely if she was unable to tip. I agree that it should be determined on the service you get but let's face it...we are suppose to tip if we have the money to piss away at a restaurant.

Re: This is Low!
England has that service too, but I still have the opinion that no-one should feel as if they should have to tip in restaurants. People here will quite often moan when people don't leave tips for a waiter/waitress. You also have the other argument that you'll always have people that will moan about how much different people leave for a tip, everyone will leave different amounts, because everyone has different circumstances and limits as to what they'll leave. Think about it...they'll be people out there that probably think you or I might be tight and probably don't think you or I leave enough tip, but who cares what they think...you can only leave what you can afford, or what we see as being reasonable at the end of the day, or, tip if your happy with the service. Also that lady could be in a job that could well earn a lot less than the average waiter/waitress, and could well work even harder... |

Re: This is Low!
I used to go to the same places frequently and had my own favorite waitresses and I'd ask for them. The, "rule", used to be 15% for good service and 20% for exceptional. I don't know if that has changed or not. I recently read $2 to $5 for delivery, which is what I had been doing, depending on the price of gas and how far they come. I remember seeing people give $1 for 4 pizzas delivered, which I found rude! That was a long time ago when I first heard of white pizza. I did have one bad experience with a miserable older waitress. (I'm old, too, but, I'm not miserable :) I asked for chicken fingers and she brought me wings. She argued that that was what I ordered. I don't eat wings because I think they're a pain in the ass and have too many bones. I handed her twenty-five cents on the way out. Oddly, after that, she was very nice and got our orders right. Not what I expected. If you can't tip, go to a drive through or fast food place, is my personal feeling. |

Re: This is Low!
Eh, I tip according to how good the service was. I dont do any of that percentage bullshit. If the service was good I will tip the server 5 bucks if the bill is under 100$, if more than a 100$ I will give 10 bucks max. 10 bucks is the most I will cough up for a tip even if the bill is 300 or something. Blow me servers. Get a real job.

Re: This is Low!
A single mom doesn't have any business blowing $138 at a restaurant then if she's that hard up for money. What if the waitress is a single mom too? THEN where does the argument go? Just try a tiny bid harder to help out your fellow human beings. Believe me, we're all going through struggles. Keep that in mind. Always. |

Re: This is Low!
Switch places for a day and see how you like getting cheapwad tips! I wouldn't want to deal with miserable, cheap people all day no matter how much it paid! People do what they have to do to get by! It's even hard for well-educated people with degrees to get jobs now, at least in the US! |
