I don't want to profile, but, you never see any black delivery people for restaurants. I always tip well and we get our food by the time the phone disconnects pretty much. Drivers are always shocked and I don't think I'm that outrageous of a tipper, but, we've been told black people don't tip and count every penny! That was my first thought though. Very few black waitstaffs, too, unless they're gay guys who keep you laughing, and I mean that in a loving way. Anyone who knows me here knows I'm gay friendly and a straight ally ;) |

If u have $140 to go out to eat, u have enuff for a 15% tip....or ya did not really have the money to go out in the first place. It's a package deal. That waitress could have been a single mom too.

I'm single, no kids and spending more than twenty-five dollars is a big deal to me! In a nice place, I don't wanna spend anymore than twice that! I could buy groceries for a whole month with one hundred and thirty eight dollars!!!!! |

I don't think people should feel like they have to tip at all, I always do, but everyone circumstances are different. It actually pisses me off when delivery drivers (when I get a takeaway) stand there waiting for a tip, that's pretty rude I think. But really, I don't see the problem with this at all. |

I vote American companies should start paying it's employees a fair wage instead of having it subsidised by the Customer. Tips should be reserved for Great Service not just "Here's your Coffee." Just pay them all fairly, put the price of everything up a little bit to compensate. Everybody pays a fair price, no-one cheaps out, and if you think they deserve it, give your Waiter/Waitress a Tip!  Tipping shouldn't be mandatory, It means more if it's not! |

On the other hand her custom keeps these people in a job... Why should people be expected to tip every time they eat out? A tip is supposed to be a gratuity for exceptional service, not a compulsory bloody guilt trip. |
