1,000-10,000 volts is normal for electric fences, they're harmless. Its only a few mill-amps pulsed every second or so. If you've ever been shocked by a spark plug or static electricity then you've been hit with ten times this much voltage. Normally the high voltage is needed to carry the ground side of the circuit through miles of earth and through shoes, hooves or fur. On security fences like this they alternate the wires between ground and energized, so if you touch two wires you get a good zap. |
