Terence Vos Questioned in Shandon Scott's Death

A jury convicted Terence Trent Vos on all counts in the 2021 shooting death of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Shandon Nicole Scott, in South Salt Lake, Utah, and he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

At about 2:45 a.m. on May 1, 2021, a neighbor at a townhome complex on Nibley View Court, near 700 East and 2700 South, reported hearing pounding, a man and woman fighting, and the woman screaming and pleading not to be hurt, followed by gunshots. Scott was shot 12 times. Just before 3 a.m., police responding to a crash on westbound Interstate 80 at 200 East found her dead of gunshot wounds inside the wrecked car. A witness who stopped said Vos tried to take the witness's vehicle before officers arrived. Another driver reported seeing Vos throw something over the freeway wall. Officers took him into custody at the scene.

During his police interview after the crash, Vos said Scott had been shot and he had been driving her to the hospital. He showed officers where the shooting had happened and pointed out a shell casing and a pool of blood. He said he could not remember what he had done with the gun and attributed the shooting to other men. Vos was charged with aggravated murder on June 14, 2021.

In March 2023, investigators extracted a voice recording made on Vos's phone on the night of the shooting. Prosecutors said it captured gunshots, a man asking, "Did you just shoot her?" and Vos answering, "Hell yeah she's dead." Two of his cousins were charged in April 2023 with obstruction of justice, a second degree felony, for lying to police about what they knew. Royce Bernard Davis, 36, faced two counts, while London Giovanni Davis, 34, faced one. The outcome of those cases has not been publicly reported.

Prosecutors also used a recorded jail call in which Vos told a friend he had made up the story about someone else shooting Scott and that he shot her after a fight. At trial, Vos testified there had been two shooters and the bullets had been meant for him.

Vos and Scott were in a relationship when she died. Vos was 35 at the time of his 2025 conviction and was on parole when the shooting happened. Police described him as a gang member whom the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit had once labeled its Public Enemy No. 1. He had two 2006 convictions for discharging a firearm from a freeway, had been arrested in earlier shootings, and was the subject of a parole violation warrant issued that February. Friends who spoke at a vigil for Scott said Vos had been abusive toward her. No prior domestic violence conviction involving Scott has been publicly reported.

After a six-day trial, the jury convicted Vos on March 20, 2025, of aggravated murder, a first degree felony; three counts of discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury; possession of a firearm by a restricted person; obstructing justice, a second degree felony; and failure to stop at the command of a law officer, a class A misdemeanor. On May 23, 2025, he received life without the possibility of parole for aggravated murder, five years to life on each firearm count and one to 15 years for obstructing justice. Those terms were concurrent with one another and consecutive to his prior convictions. Additional charges were filed against him while he was incarcerated, including threatening Department of Corrections officers. No appeal has been publicly reported.

The video is a police interview-room recording that runs about 58 minutes. It presents the interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
