A 13-year-old Filipina was laid to rest today, December 17, 2017. She died of urinary tract infection.

Lots of people dying too young due to sickness, poverty and/or maltreatment. Here in the Philippines healthcare is more of a business now than service in some cases.

In all my years first as a nurse and now as a surgeon I have NEVER seen anyone in decent health die of a primary UTI. The only case or two I can recall were septicemia related to UTI in urine stasis (i.e. paralyzed and bedridden patients who could not empty their bladders). It was a comorbid opportunistic infection of an immunocompromised person with wasted body habitus due to poor or withheld care. How does this happen to a healthy little girl? The pain of the family!

A radio personality from Toledo, Cebu, Philippines died on December 16, 2017 due to heart attack. She was laid to rest today, December 27, 2017. She was married.

Probably due to a lot of reasons, but commonly include illness, accidents and crime. Lots of young women also raped here, there is a recent one which happened to be in my home province Cavite, just south of Manila (unable to find body in casket pic though). |
