It's surprisingly common for someone that appears uninjured from a crash to go to the morgue instead of the hospital. Broken necks and damage to the brain and internal organs can kill someone instantly without leaving much external evidence. Someone told me about a young woman they knew who had a tree fall on her car. When help arrived she was sitting in the running car but wasn't moving. The sudden deceleration had broken her neck.  |
