The Hippocratic oath applies to doctor patient confidentiality. Once the person is dead, they are no longer a patient, and there for the Hippocratic oath means nothing. The ME and/or coroner can tell anything they want. In fact, if you wanted to see the autopsy reports, and death certificates, not sure about pictures though, from the ME/coroner's office, you have every legal right to do so.

"Religious groups including the catholic church and some rabbis have objected to his work of the display of humans stating it is inconsistent with the reverence towards human bodies." To me, that's just ass-backwards. I think his work shows a PROFOUND reverence for the human body. Much more so than shoving it in a box and burying it forever. Religious wing-nuts just want everything to remain mystical and supernatural so their fairy tales don't seem completely stupid. It creeps a lot of people out, but personally, I think plastination rocks! |

We have an exhibit currently running in Seattle showing bodies done up much like you see here. Some time back, someone stole a body organ out of one of them, I think it was a kidney. It was eventually returned.
