Live Autopsy Pics..by Anatomist Gunther
All bodies and corpses used were donated to the anatomist by the person themselves. They decided before death to donate their bodies to science. Gunther Von Hagens was born in Poland but moved to Germany in later life. He is a hemophiliac and as a child spent much of his time in hospital due to injuries. Being in hospital stimulated his interest in medical science and when he was older he commenced studies into the world of anatomy. He worked as a lecturer for 22 years at the institute of anatomy and pathology in heidelberg. Gunther invented the plastination technique of preserving bodies. For the first 20 years he preserved small specimens but soon plastination was used to preserve whole body specimens. Religious groups including the catholic church and some rabbis have objected to his work of the display of humans stating it is inconsistent with the reverence towards human bodies. All anatomical specimens on display in the BODY WORLDS exhibitions are authentic. They belonged to people who declared during their lifetime that their bodies should be made available after their deaths for the qualification of physicians and the instruction of laypersons. Many donors underscore that by donating their body, they want to be useful to others even after their death. Their selfless donations allow us to gain unique insights into human bodies, which have thus far been reserved for physicians at best. He did a live autopsy series where he disected a few bodies showing you how the human body works. The attention to medical detail cannot be denied. He tells you about the person when they were alive and how they died then he talks you through the autopsy every step of the way. The cutting open of the body and the process of removing organs. With one woman who died of cancer it was fascinating to be shown the effects it had on the internal organs and to be shown in great detail. He has performed many more . It is very educational. He shows how the lungs work and the muscles in your body and i must stress he does this by using the actual body so not for the faint hearted. I am more interested in the autopsy side but his body world is also truely fascinating. I have had the experience of visiting and it is superb. For anyone who wants to see autopsy carried out by Gunther then go to you tube and you'll find lots on there including the live autopsys that were carried out. Its worth checking out. Below are some pictures of some of the autopsies and his body world projects. |

Re: Live Autopsy Pics..by Anatomist Gunther
I'm Atheist. These live autopsies are also breaking the Hippocratic oath of medics: Edit: For an autopsy examination only among medic scientists and students, it's ok. But this shouldn't be shown in public. Edit 2: For me it's like kinda corpse pornography. If von Hagens' intention was education, all live anatomy shows and body world exhibitions MUST BE FREE. But they are not. He is running a big business with that shit. |
