Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

I have a genetic liver and kidney disease.
I'm already in kidney failure-functioning at about 40%.
I went through all this with my mom when she needed a liver and kidney transplant. It came from a girl my age (27 at the time), and gave us 4 more wonderful years together.
As soon as my liver fails I'll need a transplant, too.
I hope someone is generous enough to let me have a little more time with my son.
Please folks, be a donor...

Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

I'm off to the Anatomy Clinic when I pop my clogs. I'd rather serve a worthwhile purpose than line the pockets of a slimy undertaker.

Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

Is it sad that my first thought was "eww look at his foot, that gotta hurt"

I'm am organ donor. My cousin donated her baby's body and she saved 4 lives I think it was. A burn victim, Blind baby, HIV baby got the cord blood, liver went to another baby.

Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

looks edible. Is that a cheese cloth on his face?
No. That is his scalp being peeled down over his face. It's what they do when they remove your brain.

Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

Call me selfish but I don't want any part of me living inside someone else. I plan on dying of old age anyway so no part of me would be of any use. Then it's straight into the crematorium I go. Not going to be cut up or pumped full of chemicals. No funeral services or obituary. Seriously! Who gives a shit?

Re: Autopsy of an Organ Donor

My husband died last year at age of 32. I didn't know he was a organ donor so when they called me. It was a very hard choice to make. I have seen so many organ donor done in the OR in the hospital were I work.
