27-Year-Old Found Dead After Roof Fall: Korea Autopsy Case
The deceased was a 27-year-old male who had been drinking with coworkers at a bar the day before his death. He returned home at 2 a.m. and was found in the garden next to his home at around 8 a.m. The home was in a rural area without streetlights, and the height from the roof of the home where the deceased is believed to have fallen to the ground was about 4 m. When discovered, the body was facing the sky, and there was rigor mortis all over the body from the small joints to the large joints. Bloodstains were observed upward around the nose and mouth, and a cigarette was held between the upper and lower teeth. The autopsy results showed multiple circular and linear fractures on the skull around the forehead and crown, as well as cerebral hemorrhage and brain contusion. No injuries that could have caused death were observed in other parts of the body, and no fatal diseases were found. The ethyl alcohol concentration of postmortem blood collected from the external iliac vein was 0.200%. The cause of death was considered to be an accident that occurred when he fell from the dark roof of his home while smoking a cigarette after drinking alcohol. |
