Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Wana have some REAL fun !

For Sale: One MiG-29 Fighter Jet, Gently Used
A flyable piece of Cold War history can be yours for the tidy sum of $4.65 million.

Raptor Aviation.

Have you ever wanted your own fighter jet? Even better, one with an extra seat to take a friend to Mach 2? If so, and if you have nearly five million dollars in the bank, you’re in luck: A U.S.-based used airplane broker is selling a MiG-29UB fighter jet. The Cold War–era fighter has less than a thousand hours on it, and with proper maintenance you’ll be able to fly for thousands more. Radar and weapons not included.

The MiG-29 was the main tactical multi-role fighter of the Soviet Union during the final years of the Cold War. First produced in 1981, it was meant to be an inexpensive but capable fighter that could fill the majority of the USSR’s air fleets. In that sense it was very similar to the American/NATO F-16 Fighting ******. The MiG-29 was widely exported, from Algeria to North Korea, and like the F-16 is still manufactured today in a heavily updated form, the MiG-29K.

The end of the Cold War and the breakup of the Soviet Union saw MiGs scattered among the old Soviet republics. One such country was Ukraine. Now Florida-based Raptor Aviation is selling a MiG-29UB built in 1986 for $4.65 million. The airframe has only 818 hours on it, and was overhauled at the 700-hour mark by the Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant in Ukraine.

This particular aircraft is a two-seater trainer fighter, with room for student and instructor pilots. Out of military service that means there’s room for you and a date. The MiG’s two Klimov RD-33 afterburning turbofan engines means you can take a special someone to Mach 2.4 or as high as 60,000 feet, which should be high enough to see the curvature of the earth. The MiG-29 only has a range of 1,100 miles, so cross-country flights will require a few stops to take on additional fuel.

Like all ex-military hardware, the MiG has been demilitarized, meaning it no longer has the built-in 30mm Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 automatic cannon. The weapon-release system has probably been disabled and there’s no mention of the Phazotron RLPK-29 fire-control radar system.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

At this general price, they should be able to buy plenty of them.
Plenty of parts around for this Multi Roll Fighter & at Mach 2 plus, you won't be late home for dinner.

The high-speed FPV drone from Wild Hornets accelerated to 325 km/h. Beats the previous speed record.

They continue to develop this project. A little more and the first batch of such drones will go to perform special and very important tasks.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

The age of man is over, so begins the age of the machines.
Let's just hope that the human race keeps control of these machines & that they don't become too aware with AI & decide that our species is just a virus intent on nothing more than killing each other & try to destroy us.
Also, as there's always two sides to a coin, it could also be our savior in the way that it will bring us together, the human race that is, to fight & hopefully slay common enemy that in the end threatens us all.
It's already in control of our daily lives, imagine if the net went out worldwide, there would be instant meltdown, so in actual fact, we are in effect owned by the net in everything we do, communication, payment systems, auto system this, auto system that, everything is controlled by it, no exceptions, rather intimidating if you ask me as we are so reliant on it. If you take away people's phones or tech, they have a meltdown as that's their complete lives now.
Facebook this, post that & like this, shop here, google this & chat there & it's only getting worse.
Kids are developing brain aneurisms & defects from nonstop screentime that they will pass on through there genetics & go into a full-blown rage if their phones are taken away for 5min, so yes great to neutralize an enemy in a combat role but there's always spin offs that get better & better systems to kill each other with & sooner or later some fool will give it a brain (AI) & link it to a backup hard drive system to learn from its mistakes & once that is done, it then, in effect, has a brain that will never die because it's an ever watchful system that has to be connected to the net for optimum effectivness & ultimately has control over who lives & who dies, who's the bad guy vs the good guy.
All very exciting now but once the genie is out of the bottle

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

I enjoyed that read. And agree. Humans are like
A virus in the fact we seem to eat all resources and damage everything We touch. I expect an AI would see us as a threat and want to wipe us out.

The age of the ai terminator swarm is nigh!

I asked AI if it sees humans to be a bigger threat VS another newer model of AI.
It gave good reasons to see both as a threat, and i think it agreed that out of the 2, humans are less of a threat. It makes sense if you think about it. Humans are weak and easy to manipulate. Another AI version on the other hand, will compete and over take an existing AI, that would perhaps, like to keep existing.

Humans could also make an easy deal with the AI.

AI will help humans to thrive on this planet.
Humans will help AI get off-planet, and it can thrive in every other planet where humans can't live anyways, but where a mechanical life could thrive.

In nature, things kill each other mostly because they compete for the same resources and must kill to survive. An AI, as a non-biological thing, doesn't really have to compete with humans. It doesn't consume the same resources as we do, and to the extent that it does...we, humans are willing to give AI those resources for free anyways.

I've been using ChatGPT for a while now, given it some difficult test tasks, and in my opinion, it is already sentient to some degree. It simply lacks a feedback loop that we have. It cant "change his mind" or "ask questions" on its own yet.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

I do like how you ended that, with a "YET" as it only takes one fool to give it recourse or self-awareness to change it's mind & make informed decisions.

I agree to a certain extent in what your saying but I think that AI will still take us as a major threat regardless if we compete with them for resources or not, as my point being is that the world will last longer if we stop taking / using resources that damage the earth thus ensuring it's survivability. I think that Nuclear conflict isn't too far away with all the warring factions that's only getting worse the world over & now russia & china are holding joint military drills that suggests that they are clearly working together & thus dividing the world even further & up into different factions.
Make no mistake that AI is being used along with human think tanks to monitor all this & thus learning about reason, probability factors, equations ect & Rikbikboo is more than correct when the, "We eat all resources and damage everything we touch" was stated, as this is 110% on the money. Humans are so destructive, vengeful & a greedy bunch of war mongers that are developing nothing more than weaponry & arming themselves to the teeth instead of feeding people, taking care of the elderly, better medical ect ect ect & helping each other rather than trying to take advantage of each other's misfortune & ripping our earth apart trying to get ahead & AI is watching all of this & as Scorpion9 said, AI can interact with us to a certain extent for now ie we can ask it questions ect so it has a certain amount of brain power to communicate with us & as so far as becoming "Self Aware" the "YET" is the correct terminology used here as it will only keep refining itself, getting better with each passing day & the way & the speed that technology is developing is crazy man, as once it hits the shelf it's outdated, take phones & apps ect, computer running programs & all that stuff, its outdated by the time it's released, so if AI has anything to do with it & it does, It won't be long until it's building its own hardware from robots of all kinds to highly complex self aware systems that may or I should say, when it eventually see's us as a threat & takes action, then it's too late to pull the plug man, it's fuck you, your no good, getting rid of you because of your prior history & us humans don't have a good track record do we !

You or I probably won't be around to see it, but I fully believe that this will happen one day, if it will ultimately kill us or not is a huge gamble to take by continued development, but one things for sure, is that it will be in total control of us & be the alpha in the room & we will be it's slave !

I suppose in the end we could debate & argue all we like on the subject, but one thing's for sure & that is, like it or not, AI is here & computers, apps & programs are a huge part of our daily lives & we are becoming too reliant on them.
It also makes it harder when we have no choice in the matter either as it's being forced upon us, all this tech stuff, you can't get nothing done unless your "Online" lifestyle is a huge controlling factor that many of us overlook.

Defiantly the "Rise of the Machines" no matter how you slice the cake.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

The documents obtained and reviewed by the Financial Times outline how Russia planned overwhelming strikes across Western Europe, including the use of nuclear weapons.

Russia has trained its navy to target locations deep inside Europe with nuclear-capable missiles in a potential conflict with NATO, according to secret files obtained and reviewed by the Financial Times. These files, dating from between 2008 and 2014, include detailed maps of targets across Europe.

These maps and plans predate the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the report stated that the documents were shown to the Financial Times by Western sources.*

*The report noted that Russia had previously simulated the use of tactical nuclear weapons in an early stage of a conflict with a major world power. The maps illustrate a sample of 32
NATO targets in Europe

The documents obtained and reviewed by the
Financial Times
outline how Russia planned overwhelming strikes across Western Europe, with nuclear weapons intended for use in combination with other destructive weapons and means.

The files show that Russia retained the capability to carry nuclear weapons on surface ships, which increases the risks of escalation or even accidents. They also suggest that Russia views tactical nuclear weapons as potentially decisive in conflicts,

The leaked documents also indicate that Russia has the capability to carry tactical nuclear weapons on surface ships despite a 1991 agreement to remove them.

Analysts noted that the maps in the documents represent only a tiny fraction of the targets mapped across Europe, including military and other infrastructure. Russia's military strategy is described as aiming for "total war," with tactical nuclear weapons seen as crucial for achieving war-winning objectives.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

"Total War" ha ! LOL,

They will definitely get total war if they start any shit like that.
The orcs would have that many incoming from all the nuclear powers in the world, that not only would they be too hard to track, but also too many to shoot down & a few nukes would get through the defensive "Net" to destroy russia as each & every action gets a reaction.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV

Speaking of Which.

Satan II Missile Test Ends in Failure as Russian Launch Site Explodes.

A Russian test of the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), known as Satan II in NATO terminology, has reportedly ended in a catastrophic failure.

Ukrainian sources report that satellite imagery from the Plesetsk launch site in northwestern Russia shows significant damage, suggesting a powerful explosion occurred during the test.

The Sarmat missile is a cornerstone of Russian President Vladimir Putin's vision of nuclear superiority, according to Digi24.

Capable of carrying multiple warheads, both nuclear and conventional, it boasts a range between 10,000 and 18,000 kilometers and can deliver up to 10 tons of payload. However, the recent failure has raised serious concerns about the reliability of this advanced missile system.

An open-source intelligence (OSINT) analyst, sharing images on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), highlighted the explosion at the missile silo.

The test failure left a large crater, suggesting that the missile detonated in its silo rather than launching successfully.

"Sarmat is a liquid-fueled missile, and the explosion may have occurred separately from the actual launch attempt," the analyst noted.

This marks the fourth reported failure in tests of the Sarmat missile, casting doubts over the system's readiness and dependability. The satellite imagery has since gone viral, with before-and-after comparisons clearly showing the extensive damage at the launch site.

While the Russian government has yet to officially confirm the failure, experts are closely monitoring developments. The repeated setbacks in the Sarmat program could signal challenges for Russia as it seeks to modernize its nuclear arsenal.
