Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
Great Britain will send 650 multi-purpose Martlet missiles to Ukraine for $213 million. The first batch should be delivered by the end of 2024. Martlet or the Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) is a lightweight air-to-surface, air-to-air, surface-to-air, and surface-to-surface missile developed by Thales Air Defence for the United Kingdom. It is named after a mythical bird from English heraldry that never roosts, the Martlet. The LMM was developed from the Starburst surface-to-air missile to meet the UK's "Future Air-to-Surface Guided Weapon (Light)" requirement to equip the Royal Navy's AW159 Wildcat helicopters. |

US warns of 'dramatic' Iranian escalation after 'Tehran's missiles arrive in Russia' Any Iranian transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia would mark a sharp escalation in the Ukraine war, Washington has said. "We have been warning of the deepening security partnership between Russia and Iran since the outset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and are alarmed by these reports," White House national security council spokesman Sean Savett said last night. "Any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would represent a dramatic escalation in Iran's support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine." He did not confirm whether the US had verified that any such transfer had taken place - although reporting in the Wall Street Journal yesterday cited senior officials as saying that Iranian missiles had now been delivered to Moscow's forces. Reports from August suggested that Russia was expecting the imminent delivery of hundreds of Fath-360 close-range ballistic missiles from Tehran - and that Russian military personnel were being trained inside Iran on how to use them. An anti-Israel billboard with a picture of Iranian missiles is seen in Tehran An anti-Israel billboard with a picture of Iranian missiles is seen in Tehran Iran denies reports Iran's UN delegation said yesterday: "Iran considers the provision of military assistance to the parties engaged in the conflict - which leads to increased human casualties, destruction of infrastructure, and a distancing from ceasefire negotiations - to be inhumane." "Thus, not only does Iran abstain from engaging in such actions itself, but it also calls upon other countries to cease the supply of weapons to the sides involved in the conflict." Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
And I think this belongs here Trump victory could trigger Second World War-scale security crisis in Europe, experts warn Polls indicate the race for the White House has become much closer since the decision by current incumbent Joe Biden to drop out, but there remains a very real prospect that Donald Trump could win a second term as US president. Such an eventuality would have repercussions way beyond American soil, with analysts suggesting it could be pivotal for the war in Ukraine. And Phillips P O'Brien, professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews, and Edward Stringer, a retired RAF Air Marshal and senior fellow of UK thinktank Policy Exchange, says a Trump victory may leave Europe "in a tight spot" - and urged leaders in the continent to begin planning for that result. "By the end of January 2025, the continent's most important partner, the United States, could be led by former President Donald Trump, who has said that he would encourage Russia to do 'whatever the hell it wanted' to European countries that did not do what he wanted: spend more on defence," they wrote in a piece for Foreign Policy magazine. "The previous Trump administration strained the transatlantic relationship, and the next iteration would almost certainly be worse. Freed from the influence of the traditional Atlanticist Republicans who staffed his cabinet in his first term, a second-term Trump would face fewer obstacles to making good on his threats." The pair point out that Trump has warned that he would immediately cut all US aid to Kyiv and demand a quick end to the war, which would likely require Ukraine to cede a significant part of its territory to Russia. "And that could just be the start," they continued. "Trump has long questioned the value of NATO, so it is not inconceivable that he would strip back the US commitment to defend Europe. "He could enact the analyst Sumantra Maitra's widely circulated 'dormant NATO' proposal, in which the US military would provide logistics support as a last resort but leave all other NATO defence responsibilities to Europe, or follow in the footsteps of French President Charles de Gaulle, who removed France from NATO's military command (but not the alliance itself) in 1966." They said Trump could act quickly, by vowing never to order US troops to fight for Europe. "Europe, as a result, would be forced to confront a security crisis on a scale it has not faced since World War II," they write. After discussing the possible strategy for Europe if this situation were to come to pass - including speculation as to which countries might step in to replace the US's military leadership, the authors argued that countries must act with urgency to prepare. "Time is a precious commodity in war. And today, with a war on its doorstep and the United States threatening to push European security to its most precarious point in decades, the continent is wasting it," they say. "European countries should have started planning for the possibility of a Trump return at least a year ago, when the high chance of such an outcome became apparent, giving themselves more time to make preparations. "Instead, European governments stuck their heads in the sand. If Trump is elected, such denial will have to end. European NATO states will be forced into action to secure the continent and protect the freedom of its people. "It is far better they approach that weighty task as rationally and with as much foresight as possible than in a haphazard rush." |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
Ukraine Conducts Trials of New High-Tech Bomb with Soviet-Era Jet. Ukraine’s military is testing a new type of guided bomb, as revealed in a recently released video. The footage, shared by Ukrainian officials, shows a Su-24M bomber carrying an unidentified guided bomb while being escorted by a Su-27UB fighter jet, according to WP. This trial signals a significant development in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to strengthen its military capabilities amidst the ongoing conflict. Ukraine has a history of adapting and upgrading its equipment, particularly in recent months. The military recently gained attention for converting drones to carry thermite, transforming them into aerial flamethrowers. This innovation was quickly mirrored by Russian forces. Now, Ukraine appears to be testing a new weapon that has sparked widespread speculation. Defense analysts suggest several possibilities for the new bomb. It could be Ukraine’s response to Russia's UMPK guided bomb, or perhaps a counterpart to France's AASM Hammer. Another theory involves the U.S.-made ERAM rocket bomb, rumored to be in production for Ukraine, with a range exceeding 450 kilometers. Reports indicate that the U.S. may produce up to 1,000 of these bombs per year, though details on the weapon remain scarce. The Su-24M bomber, a Soviet-era aircraft, plays a key role in this test. Known for its versatility and advanced avionics, the Su-24M can carry a wide range of weapons, including guided and unguided bombs, rockets, and air-to-surface missiles. This tactical bomber has been a crucial asset in the Ukrainian Air Force, and it has been adapted to deploy Ukraine's new military innovations. While specifics about the bomb’s capabilities remain unknown, Ukraine’s testing of such weapons demonstrates the country’s continued focus on upgrading its arsenal to meet the demands of modern warfare. Rather ironic that UAF are using Soviet (Russian) Aircraft to deploy munitions against the invading Russians. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room IV
As eventually stated in the analysis, the root of the threat is that Europe's history of not investing in military sufficiently to deter their bad neighbor to the east. I concur with the US focusing on our own borders and not being the World Police. US can't afford ($$$) to do that. We have too many new uneducated, unskilled, jobless, homeless illegal immigrants to house, feed and register to vote.

They support a government incessant on invading & wiping out the Ukrainian ppl from existence, so I say to them, suck it up, OR, you can rebel & get rid of your dicktakership government. Time for the ppl of Russia to wake up to what's happening & band together to stop this totally unnecessary invasion of Ukraine so that they can go back to their quiet way of life instead of being a bunch of rabbits running to shelters when a pin drops. |
