Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Belgium plans to supply Ukraine with a maximum of 30 F16 jets by 2028, while the Netherlands is seeking to establish a coalition to deploy an additional Patriot battery for Ukraine.

In Belgium Zelensky visited the military base in Melsbroek. Our prime minister De Croo + defense minister Dedonder showed the place where Ukrainian pilots getting trained to fly F16’s.

During June, Ukraine is set to receive tens of thousands of shells as part of the Czech-led initiative.

Fifteen EU and NATO countries have contributed more than EUR 1.6 billion (CZK 39.5 billion) to the Czech shells-for Ukraine initiative, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said at a joint press briefing with a group of EU leaders in Prague on Tuesday. The first tens of thousands of 155 mm calibre ammunition will arrive in Ukraine in the course of June, and the country can expect the first shipment in the next few days, the prime minister said.

The Czech prime minister hosted a work dinner for a group of EU leaders and the prime minister of Ukraine aimed at coordinating and strengthening aid to Ukraine in the face of continuing Russian aggression. The meeting was attended by the prime misters of the Netherlands, Denmark and Latvia, as well as Polish President Andrej Duda and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien.

President Duda said this was a crucial moment in the conflict and Europe must do everything to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s aggression. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said his country would deliver parts of a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked Prime Minister Fiala for calling the meeting, saying his country “is and will remain the shield of Europe”. He stressed the importance of the Czech shells-for Ukraine initiative, adding that it was vital for the ammunition to reach the front line as soon as possible.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Can someone verify this?

I have to say I'm quite a bite ashamed how tight rules of engagement for Ukraine are.

This may change soon, hopefully. Russia has been taking full advantage of this cross-border restriction the entire war

Who gave the permission to beat on the head?

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Sweden will send its only two & currently active Saab 340 (ASC 890) airborne early warning and control aircraft to Ukraine in the largest military package yet, worth $1.25 billion. These planes are intended to complement the F-16s that are to begin arriving next month.

Compared to the traditional circular radar on AWACS planes, such as the E-3 Sentry, the Saab 340 has a non-movable PS-890 AESA radar made with the Erieye system which offers lower drag, but has a dead zone directly behind and in front of the plane, with a 120 degree zone of scan on either side of the airframe.

The mounted radar is capable of tracking ships, planes and missiles up to 190-250 mi (300-400 km) while at an altitude of 20,000 ft (6,100 m).

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Neptune missiles hit the ferry crossing and the oil terminal of the port "Kavkaz" in the Krasnodar region, russia.

This infrastructure was used by the enemy for logistics and supply of the army. Also, attack UAVs hit another oil terminal in Krasnodar.

If Neptune missiles were used in the strike, it means they have sufficient range to reach the Crimean Bridge. This is a huge development as it is the first disclosed use of a domestically produced Neptune ground-launched cruise missile on Russian territory.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

▪️Germany has not yet taken a final decision on granting such permission.
Just in:

The German government has given Ukraine permission to use weapons supplied by Germany against military targets in Russia. This was announced by spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in Berlin on Friday.

"In recent weeks, Russia has prepared, coordinated and carried out attacks, particularly in the Kharkiv area, from positions in the immediately adjacent Russian border area," he explained.

They are both convinced that Ukraine has the right under international law to defend itself against these attacks.

“For this purpose, it can also use the weapons supplied for this purpose in accordance with its international legal obligations, including those supplied by us,” Hebestreit said.

In theory, several weapons supplied by Germany could be used to respond to Russian attacks from the border area. These include the Panzerhaubitze 2000 and Mars II rocket launchers.

Shortly before the German government, the US government confirmed on Thursday evening that it had given Ukraine permission to use American weapons on a limited scale against targets on Russian territory. However, this only applies to counterattacks in defense of the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, said a US government representative.

The Ukrainian military should be enabled to take action against Russian forces "that attack them or are preparing to attack them." Apart from that, the use of US weapons on targets in Russia remains prohibited.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

It seems that once again, things are escalating to another level of stupidity, with such actions to "Permit Usage" of weapons won't help De-escalate the situation anytime soon, so it seems that there's not much room or incentive to resolve it rather than taking this step as its definitely steps in the wrong direction & all it's done is escalate this invasion to a whole new level of sheer madness.
