Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Yup. If those graphics are even remotely accurate, Russia is experiencing an extremely dire logistics situation.

Even aside from 122mm, 152mm and 203mm shells, and the mortars, their ability to replace destroyed artillery systems (especially the more effective self propelled ones like Msta-S, Giatsint-S) is becoming more and more questionable. It's pretty clear Russia's friends cannot fill that gap.

If I was head of Russian MoD logistics I would be pulling my hair out... I can't depend on foreign friends to fill many gaps, a luxury Ukraine has much more of - they're still receiving a variety of improved Soviet and Western systems. Most wars are a marathon and not a race.
Numbers of destroyed orc equipment has been insane in the last few weeks with Arty & Tank Systems being smashed at will with tank losses alone at almost 5,000 now, so to say that russia isn't feeling it right now would be comical.
I'm sure that there's no real way of telling if they have another 5 thousand in reserve to send into Ukraine but I do know that a country needs to keep a few in reserve to protect its boarders ect so are we getting near the cut off amount or still a way to go but that's a hell of a lot of steel to lose n not feel it. Arty systems are the same with high losses so time will tell but one things for sure, russia has isolated itself from the rest of the world by their actions so there's not going to be any significant help like the countries helping Ukraine & with the F16 "Vipers" to enter the arena, this is getting real ugly for these orc fuckers.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

Putin is trying to memory-hole the failed recent Russian offensives

From ISW's 15 October assessment:

"Russian President Vladimir Putin may be trying to temper expectations of significant Russian advances around Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast. Putin claimed in an interview on Russian state television on October 15 that Russian forces are conducting an “active defense” in the Avdiivka, Kupyansk, and Zaporizhia directions.[1] Putin’s characterization of Russian offensive operations near Avdiivka as an “active defense,” instead of “active combat operations” as Russian UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya claimed on October 13, or discussing Russian operations as an “offensive” as some milbloggers have, may be an attempt to temper expectations of significant Russian advances.[2] Russian operations including intensive artillery and airstrikes are likely intended to degrade Ukrainian forces around Avdiivka.[3] Russian forces are unlikely to make significant breakthroughs or cut off Ukrainian forces in the settlement in the near term, and potential advances at scale would likely require a significant and protracted commitment of personnel and materiel.[4]"

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III

"Summary review of the situation in Avdiivka as of today from Tatarigami_UA .

ℹ️ Russian troops failed to maintain a sustained presence north of Avdiivka, despite initial successes in the first days of the assault.

ℹ️ The Russians were unable to establish permanent control over the Terikonu area.

ℹ️ Good news is coming from the southwest flank. Despite numerous attempts to break through to Severny, Russian troops suffered significant losses and were forced to retreat. This is very important, since the western flank plays a decisive role in the logistics of Avdiyivka.

ℹ️ The reports of a large amount of Russian equipment destroyed are accurate, but it should be noted that some of the destroyed armored vehicles had been there in previous months or even years. Nevertheless, losses remain significant, with somewhat reduced intensity in recent days.

ℹ️ Recent satellite images and geolocation videos indicate that the enemy has changed its approach to Avdiyivka, resorting to intense shelling, causing significant damage to the city's infrastructure and residential buildings."
