Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III
Oh for sure ..firing at a pigeon with buck/bird vs bullet/miniball .. ive seen several video from both sides of guys doing their damnedest to take down an incoming drone with their AKs with no success and if they would have a shotgun they could have saved their life. They need to add a new squad position instead of a machine gunner or rifleman throw you in a shotgunner...war Is getting so complicated. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III
President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Brigadier General Viktor Khorenko from his role as the commander of the Special Operations Forces (SOF), according to a presidential decree published online on Nov. 3. A separate decree announced that the new commander of the unit is Serhii Lupanchuk. In his evening address, Zelensky described Lupanchuk as an "experienced officer and the right person to "give our Special Operations Forces more power." Khorenko will "continue to carry out special tasks as part of the Main Directorate of Intelligence," Zelensky said. The SOF became an independent branch of the Ukrainian military in 2016, making it one of the seven branches of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Its soldiers often conduct reconnaissance missions and covert operations behind enemy lines. The force claimed responsibility for overnight strikes on Russian military airfields in occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk on Oct. 17, which destroyed nine helicopters, an air defense system, and an ammunition warehouse. Earlier in October, the SOF reported that a unit of its "Resistance Movement" sabotaged a train in Russian-occupied Melitopol that was carrying ammunition and fuel for the Russian military. However a pro ukr channel wrote: General Khorenko, the commander of the SSO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that President Zelensky fired him without the knowledge of Khorenko himself and without the consent of his immediate superior, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny. Today, during an interview, Major General Viktor Khorenko, commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, learned from journalists about his dismissal. The relevant decree was published on the website of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. Khorenko stated in a comment that his immediate superior - the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhnyi does not know about Khorenko's removal from his post, and Khorenko himself also heard about it from a media report. Thus, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelenskyy interfered in personnel decisions in the Armed Forces by violating the procedure for dismissing the commander of the Special Operations Forces. In his evening address, the president himself did not explain why he neglected Zaluzhny's rights. And he simply announced the dismissal of Khorenko and the appointment of a new commander of the SSO Serhiy Lupanchuk. Censor.Net sources in the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirm that neither Khrenko's dismissal nor Lupanchuk's appointment was discussed or agreed upon with Zaluzhny. What conclusions can we draw from Horenko's statement? 1. The president's office demonstratively insulted the general, the president does not even consider it necessary to explain the reasons for this disrespect to the military and society. 2. The replacement of the SSO commander is connected with political intrigues, and not dictated by military necessity, otherwise Zaluzhny would have been asked. In this way, the Office of the President deliberately weakens the influence of Zaluzhny in the army. 3. When it is profitable for Zelenskyi and his PR people, they cover up for Zaluzhny and say that he makes all the decisions himself. But in reality, there is no vertical management and responsibility in the army, because Zelenskyi and his office, i.e. Andriy Yermak, take personnel decisions themselves. In the same way, they make decisions bypassing Zaluzhnyi regarding other appointments to other command positions in the army. 4. Zelensky is afraid of Zaluzhnyi as a possible competitor in the upcoming elections. The change of the commander of the SSO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without the approval of the commander-in-chief himself can be a warning about personnel decisions both for other senior leaders of the army and for Zaluzhny himself. Zelenskyy later mentioned that Khorenko will be working for the General Directorate of Intelligence now. Pic is from July 29 with all 3 gathered in the same room. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III
I skimmed through this but on the surface this seems like a big deal for Ukraine. "Recruiting instead of conscription: Rustem Umyerov approved the Concept of military personnel policy of the Ministry of Defense Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov signed the Order on the approval of the Concept of Military Personnel Policy until 2028. The document defines a strategic vision for the development of military personnel policy in the field of defense over the next five years - both during martial law and peacetime. The main emphasis of the concept is the guaranteed satisfaction of the needs of the Armed Forces in people during a full-scale war, integration into the Euro-Atlantic security space, interoperability of the Armed Forces with the armed forces of NATO member states. Expected results: ▪️The Armed Forces will transfer to military service under a contract. Long-term military service will be replaced by intensive military training of citizens of conscription age; ▪️Ukraine will have an effective system of recruiting the Armed Forces of Ukraine with professional and motivated personnel; ▪️a people-centric approach to the management of the career of military personnel, taking into account their education, professional development, and gender equality. Equal opportunities for men and women in the Armed Forces; ▪️improved electronic military accounting system; ▪️automated and digitized personnel management processes; ▪️expanded cooperation between Ukrainian higher education institutions and universities of NATO and EU member states; ▪️an efficient and transparent system of monetary support for military personnel and providing them with housing; ▪️improved psychological support; ▪️a new culture of relations between commanders and subordinates; ▪️proper conditions for the transition from military career to civilian life of servicemen who are subject to release from military service. Monitoring and evaluation of the results of the implementation of the concept will be carried out by the Personnel Management Committee in the system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room III
"I found interestinginformation (https://www.newsweek.pl/swiat/armia-...ecznie/tkhpewg) about the Polish UAV-reconnaissance FlyEye , which is currently actively used by the Armed Forces. ℹ️ FlyEye can work for more than 2.5 hours. For example, on the southern part of the front, a Ukrainian operator conducted reconnaissance and adjusted artillery fire for 9 hours. At the same time, the Russians could not do anything to him. ℹ️ It turned out that the Russian ZRGK "Pantsir-S1" cannot cope with a UAV of this size and with such characteristics as FlyEye. Due to its small size and the corresponding design of the airframe, the drone gives very little radar reflection in the system of the Russian complex, which recognizes the Polish drone as a large bird. ℹ️ FlyEye is not affected by emitters that jam or try to intercept the signal of the ground control station. And for complexes like the 9K33 "Wasp" and 2K12 "Kub", the Polish drone is too small, and the missile launch fuses do not work." "The plot (English subtitles added) is about the Swedish tank STRV 122A , which is in service of the 21st brigade , which defends one of the sites in the Kupyansk direction. At 00:51, the tankers load the DM11 tank projectile, the feature of which is the presence of a programmed detonation. The main part of the projectile contains a block with impressive elements (bulbs made of tungsten carbide). During the detonation, a dense cloud of debris is formed, characterized by high penetrating ability. The projectile can be programmed to detonate in front of or over the target. ℹ️ You can see the working principle of DM11 in the 2nd video."
