Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

"On the anniversary of the invasion, the GRU planned massive strikes on Moscow, The Washington Post reports, citing classified US intelligence documents. Kyrylo Budanov instructed one of his officers to prepare a strike on February 24 with everything at the intelligence's disposal, but the operation was allegedly postponed at the request of the United States."

"Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, called the Washington Post's article about Ukraine's plans to strike at Moscow a conspiracy. He said that this was illogical, and that such materials consciously or unconsciously form the opinion of Western partners that Ukraine "is an unreasonable, infantile and impulsive country that is dangerous for adults to trust with serious weapons.""

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

"Caroline Nordengrip, former member of Swedish parliament, has enlisted into the Ukrainian Army.

"For me it was obvious. I never hesitated. I learned so much about the war because I was on the defense committee when it started that I felt I had to contribute""

Very Courageous of her, besides, you have to follow you heart & what's right.

P.S I like the tat.

I guess there is a presidential election in Russia in 2024. Not sure why.

"Nominating a presidential candidate in the Russian Federation. Centrifugal tendencies are increasing in Russia. Freaks come out from everywhere. Dictator Putin needs "competition" at "elections". It's hard to find someone compared to whom even Putin would look sensible. But it's possible, as we can see."

I like how he was corrected mid speech. Hasn't even gotten the maiden speech out without a hiccup. Absolute bunch of clowns that haven't got a ringmaster, well a half docile one anyway.

Careful of windows

"Russian journalists were denied visas to cover Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's attendance at UN events in New York, and Russian officials promise retaliatory measures.

Rather Comical !

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

- A Leopard 2a4 was damaged in Poland while Ukrainian tankers were training. According to the source two Leopards hit each other. It looks like one Leopard got up onto the other's front slope and separated the turret from hull. I've never seen anything like this before.
I wish whoever originally posted had pixelated the innards. Maybe it doesn't matter though...

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

"The Chinese ambassador to France was asked to clarify his position on the occupied Crimea. He replied that it "depends on how you look at the issue" and that Crimea "was originally part of Russia." The journalist noted that under international law, there is no contradiction in this matter, as the peninsula is part of Ukraine.

"According to international law, the countries of the former USSR do not have the status of an effective state in international law. Because there is no international agreement to make their status as independent countries concrete," the ambassador replied. After this statement, the Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned a representative of China to explain the diplomat's statements."

"Nearly 80 European parliamentarians call for declaring China's ambassador to France persona non grata

In a joint statement, the parliamentarians appealed to the French Foreign Minister to respond to the ambassador's attacks:

«As Members of Parliament, we are writing to draw your attention to our call on the French government to take action in response to the aggressive statements made on Friday, April 21 at LCI by the Chinese Ambassador to France, Mr.Lu Shaye; statements that clearly violate international law and should be considered a threat to the security of France's European partner countries,» the statement reads.

«At a time when war is raging in Europe, caused by russia's aggression against the territorial integrity of its neighbor Ukraine, it is crucial that the democratic world sends an unequivocal message to authoritarian countries to defend the sovereignty of our allies.»

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell wrote on Twitter that Lu Shaye's remarks were "unacceptable."

«Unacceptable remarks of the Chinese Ambassador to France questioning the sovereignty of the countries which became independent with the end of the Soviet Union in 1991. The EU can only suppose these declarations do not represent China’s official policy.»"

NO MEDIA:

"Not having significant achievements on the battlefield, servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and representatives of the "Wagner" PMC are increasingly trying to find those responsible for this. Responsibility for own tactical miscalculations and losses is transferred to each other. As a result, recently, in the settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska, Luhansk region, a fight took place between servicemen of the Soviet Union and mercenaries of the "Wagner" PMC, which turned into a shootout. As a result of the conflict, there are casualties on both sides."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

Chips made after the start of the war have been found in Russian killer drones. Chips found so far date from the time before the invasion. The semiconductors come from America. “This is a tipping point in the war.”

This is evident from a report by research team Conflict Armament Research (CAR). However, this finding does not demonstrate that the sanctions are being circumvented, according to Damien Spleeter, deputy director of operations at CAR. “The chips found were made in August, when this type of chip was still legal. In September, the chips were added to the US sanctions list.”

The Russian army is apparently looking for alternatives to its own stock. Earlier this newspaper wrote about chips from home-garden-and-kitchen appliances such as washing machines. That stock now seems to be running out, Spleeter thinks. “It is the first time we find chips made after the invasion in March 2022. It is a tipping point in the war. We will see in the near future whether the sanctions actually have an effect.”

Previously, it was therefore not forbidden to export chips to Russia. This is because they are relatively simple semiconductors. It therefore took almost a year and a half before sanctions were imposed on this type. “Many people think that from the day the war started, nothing could be exported to Russia at all,” says Spleeter. “In reality, it was much more gradual.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sees a complex challenge in the chips. “Because of its dependence on Western electronic components, Russia uses an extensive network that resells its goods without the approval or knowledge of Western manufacturers,” the ministry said through a spokesperson. The fact that chips are used for everything makes enforcement even more complex. “Many millions of chips are shipped every year and used for everything. It is an almost impossible task for exporters to know where each individual component ends up.”

A Dutch chip manufacturer previously compared chips with screws. “They are almost everywhere. Chips are as common as a wire. It is almost impossible to check.” Due to the current sanctions on this type of chip, it will have to be checked.
