Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
"A good demonstration of the operation of the FENNEK armored reconnaissance vehicle , which will soon be delivered to the Armed Forces from the Netherlands. The machine itself is made in Germany. It is equipped with a thermal imager, a laser rangefinder, powerful ultra-sensitive optics, as well as a set of BOSA ground sensors. The latter includes magnetic, acoustic, optical sensors and a ground vibration (vibration) sensor, which are secretly installed near the areas to be monitored. The detection range of objects is 1 — 10 m. These sensors are used to monitor roads, trails, or important terrain areas. They detect vehicles and report their number, speed and direction. They are also able to identify the main types of combat and auxiliary vehicles. In addition, the crew of the machine has a standard reconnaissance UAV "Aladdin" in its arsenal."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
I saw something about this the other day and thought it was a joke. Apparently, I was incorrect. "A trained Eagle attacking a small drone...a Duma deputy [Russia] proposed establishing a "Squadron" of such Eagle Interceptors "

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
1. "Near Tula, 180 kilometers from Moscow, the Russians are placing air defense systems" 2. 1st assault battalion of the 3rd OSHB ""How it all began" (April 2022). We often hear the phrase "I'm not for war"! Of course, no one is born for war, *and we are no exception... It is daily work, training, learning, gaining experience and improvement. But our efforts bear fruit"

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Using animals in war is an age-old strategy, and a pretty good one. There are some funny stories of Russians using bomb-dogs in the second world war. They carried a backpack of high explosives and were trained to run under enemy tanks where they detonated. The funny part was that they often ran under their own tanks and blew them up. Another pretty effective use case of animals would have been the American "fire bats" where bats where equipped with incendiary explosives and released in wooden cities of Japan, where they would hide under roofs and ignite the whole city. They scrapped the idea because it was too effective and runaway bats burned down their own buildings :D I think there also were early guided missiles that were controlled by pigeons. As for the eagles, I think they are quite rare and difficult to handle, so id just equip them with cameras and have them fly around the frontlines. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Antigonus II Gonatas' siege of Megara in 266 BC was broken when the Megarians doused some pigs with combustible pitch, crude oil or resin, set them alight, The elephants bolted in terror from the flaming, squealing pigs, often killing great numbers of their own soldiers by trampling them to death. |
