Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

NO MEDIA:

"According to the results of the first half of 2023, Gazprom's (Russian state-owned energy corporation)*gas business became unprofitable – for the first time since the pandemic and for the second time in the last 25 years.

"A sharp drop in revenue from gas export sales against the background of rising costs and capital investments led to the fact that Gazprom's gas business – the core element of the group's activity – turned out to be unprofitable in the first half of the year," – writes the Russian newspaper Kommersant.

An increase in production costs, in particular, is related to the reduction of gas transportation volumes by the gas transportation system along with the increase in the capacities of the system itself after the commissioning of gas pipelines for "Nord Stream-2", which never came into operation.

It is noted that the state of affairs at Gazprom will most likely worsen: "As gas prices in Europe continue to decline, the situation may worsen," the newspaper states, stressing that such a state of affairs was once observed in the first half of 2020 – at the height of the pandemic, and before that – during the crisis of 1998, which was a shock for the Russian economy.

The significant difference is that at that time the world prices for hydrocarbons were at the lowest level in the last 20 years, and this year the prices for oil and gas were significantly higher.

The revenue of PJSC "Gazprom" fell by 65% to 2.74 trillion rubles. In particular, the revenue directly from the sale of gas fell 2.1 times, to 1.7 trillion rubles."

"Ukrainian Anti-Monopoly Committee has reached a decision that the goods produced by companies that are declared international war sponsors by @NAZK_gov, cannot be included into state-financed purchases. Moreover, already existing deals need to be reviewed to make sure they are not financing sponsors of war.

Almost 40 companies have been added to the Register of International war sponsors - ones who refuse to leave Russia. They include P&G, METRO, Bonduelle, Auchan, Xiaomi, PepsiCo, Mars and many others.

Imagine how soon these war sponsors would leave Russia if all Allies of Ukraine did the same!"

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

NO MEDIA

"OSINT researcher and military observer Tendar wrote an interesting analysis of the situation at the front with a focus on the Zaporizhia direction.

Much has been said about the Russian defense network, and there is no doubt that the Russians have put a lot of effort into its creation.

But many forget that these are purely tactical elements that, separated from the overall strategy, offer little. The Ukrainian counteroffensive has been going on for almost 3 months, and during this time the Ukrainian onslaught has inflicted serious "wounds" on the Russian defense network.

This was the beginning of events in the area of Velika Novosilka, the culmination of which was the crushing defeat of the Russians and the withdrawal to Urozhaine. However, Ukrainian operations south of Orichov became much more dangerous for the Russians.

The Russians specially fortified this territory. In particular, Robotine was vital for the Russian defense system. This also explains why the Russians continue to resist so much in this area, knowing their weakness in the depth of the front.

But this is not even the worst for the Russians. Much worse, this whole battle has turned into an open tug-of-war. Both sides are less aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses. The open terrain makes attacks and counterattacks almost impossible. This is only emphasized by the massive use of drones.

Some might argue that this moment could be profitable for the Russians, but even that was wasted by the Russians long ago. The biggest mistake many people make, especially Russians, is that they rely on trench networks. Trenches delay progress, no doubt about it. But the most important aspect of this battle, as always, is logistics.

And here the Russians made absolutely crucial mistakes, not targeting Ukrainian logistics. Instead, the Ukrainians skilfully and from the first day of this operation shelled all logistical nodes and headquarters from Melitopol to Tokmak. Most of them are within the range of Ukrainian rocket artillery.

Another aspect that the Russians do not use as much as the Ukrainians is the use of drones. Sure, lancets are published from time to time, but drone warfare is a matter of numbers.

There are many more strikes by Ukrainian FPV drones. For comparison: only "Birds of Magyar" destroyed Russian equipment worth a billion US dollars, using drones whose price does not exceed $10,000, and most of them even $1,000.

The flow of new drones is supported by the domestic Ukrainian industry, which creates more interesting and cost-effective drones. This is happening in parallel with long-range UAVs, which are increasingly striking vital Russian bases far beyond Ukraine.

Most drones on the front have a range of 5 km, so in this zone the life of a Russian soldier is short.

The Russians have lost the initiative and hope only that the Ukrainians will stop their assault. The frenzied appeals of pro-Russian supporters such as Hungary's Orbán are a very good sign of how dire the situation is for the Russians. They hope that the Ukrainian attack will stop, and if this does not happen, then we are not far from the complete collapse of Russia on the southern front.

This collapse will be determined only by how and when Russian logistics will not be able to resist Ukrainian attacks in an organized manner, logistics lines and nodes, as well as the attrition rate.

When this turning point is reached, then the collapse of the Russian army in the Zaporozhye direction will be complete. Then the situation for the Russians will change from critical to hopeless, when the Ukrainians will break through the lines and rush to the Sea of Azov.

In the early stages of this open war, the Russians focused on securing the Azov coast in order to protect their bases in Crimea. The existing Ukrainian arsenal of long-range weapons such as HIMARS, Storm Shadows / Scalp-EG and probably soon also TAURUS, + Ukrainian control over all of Zaporozhye will make the Russian occupation of Crimea untenable. It will be like Germany in 1944, where the fight may go on for another year (which it did), but the ending won't change that."

What makes you think this was a Krasnopol round, and what makes you think there was an ammunition detonation here...?

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

Another sat. photo. Won't tires just intensify any fire started by a drone or grenade?

"Maxar satellite imagery from the Engels airbase shows Tu-95 strategic bombers with car tires on top of the fuselage."
Attachment 1205730

There's absolutely no reasoning behind this you can still attack other areas of the fuselage surface & whoever though about it needs their head examined.

The turret has big fat hole on the top.
WOW.

1 Tank got hit, we can all go home now, russia has won their 3 day invasion / smo / war

Luckily, we have countries giving so much stuff to Ukraine for the war effort that this particular tank, who all crew members survived so they go jump into a new tank I might add, represent less than 0.99% of Challenger Tanks in their current inventory let alone other tank systems to come.
