Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
russ TG channels published a video of what is reportedly an inspection of the Sukra-Okran vessel headed for Ukraine last weekend by the crew of Russian Vasily Bykov patrol ship. It is a demonstration of power. Russia is trying to raise the stakes before Putin's supposedly upcoming visit to Turkey. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
He is a politician, so in my book, that is an automatic strike against him... but I have never seen any president or leader consistently go to areas on the front line of a war in my lifetime regardless of what country the war was in. And this one is in his own. The guy wears cargo pants and tshirts/hoodies to meetings with world leaders. I'm sure there are all kinds of reasons behind it and all kinds of theories from pro-Russians. Say whatever you want about Zelesnkyy, the but guy is fucking different from any other politician/president/world leader during war time. I might have an ounce for respect for Putin if he were going around visiting his soldiers on the front line and in hospitals even a quarter as much as Zelenskyy is. 7 different units in one day. Posted 14 August. #zelenskyy "Today, the President was at different areas of the front and managed to visit seven different brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine : ⚡️ 22nd separate mechanized; ⚡️ 5th separate assault unit; ⚡️ 80th Airborne Assault Regiment; ⚡️ 57th separate motorized infantry; ⚡️ 92nd separate mechanized; ⚡️ 26th separate artillery; ⚡️ 3rd separate assault unit"

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Putting this in here because it's not Ukraine or Russia. There was a large explosion at what initially was reported to be an oil depot in Makhachkala, Dagestan but it turns out it was not an oil depot and that is a result of some kind of anti-Russian "movement". I will post more info if/when I find it. EDIT: turns out it was a gas station that exploded. 8 dead, 20 wounded. I'm still not sure what the cause was.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Ukrainian forces have recaptured the village of Urozhaine from Russian troops in the southeast and dug in on its outskirts, Kyiv's deputy defence minister said on Wednesday. "Urozhaine liberated," Hanna Maliar said on the Telegram messaging app. "Our defenders are entrenched on the outskirts." The village in Donetsk region is part of a cluster of small rural settlements that Ukraine has declared liberated since early June when it started a push against Russian troops who control swathes of the south and east. Russia's defence ministry did not confirm losing the settlement in a statement on Telegram but said its artillery and warplanes were attacking Ukrainian forces in the Urozhaine area. The village's recapture would indicate Ukraine is pressing ahead with an offensive drive south towards the Sea of Azov that aims to cut Russian occupying forces in half. Urozhaine lies just over 90 km (55 miles) from the Sea of Azov. In a sign of the difficulty of the battlefield operations, Urozhaine is the first village Ukraine says it has retaken since July 27 when it announced the recapture of neighbouring Staromaiorske. Kyiv says its counteroffensive push is progressing slower than it wanted because of vast Russian minefields and prepared Russian defensive lines. The recapture of Urozhaine would bring Ukraine closer to threatening the village of Staromlynivka, several kilometres to the south, which military analysts say serves as a Russian stronghold in the area. *Ukrainian forces are now attempting to push south of Urozhaine towards nearby settlements, heaviest fighting rages. #liberated |
