Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Sad news from UA. Employee of National Agency for Corruption Prevention killed in war. ![]() Yuliya Shevchenko, an employee of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, has been killed in the war on July 31. During the initial months of the full-scale invasion, Yuliya joined the military and served as the deputy commander responsible for morale and psychological support, according to her comrades. The news was announced by Taras Sukheniuk, Yuliya’s fiancé, who is also a serviceman. He wrote: "On July 31, the heart of this wonderful girl, my fiancée, my future wife, stopped beating. We lost someone who surpassed everyone with her bravery, diligence, and dedication. She was an angel among people, always willing to help anyone in need, whether they asked for it or not. She always used to tell me, 'Taras, we are inseparable lovebirds; we will always be together.' And I would reply, 'Yes, always and forever, my little butterfly.' But unfortunately, it didn’t happen. I love you very much, and I will always love you." "This young life, full of promise, talents, and a bright future in the field of law and science, was cut short in the pursuit of freedom and independence for her homeland, for her people, and for all of us. The blame falls upon the aggressors who brought war to our land and took her away from us. The entire department shares deep sorrow and extends sincere condolences to Yuliya’s family and loved ones." Yuriy Ponomarenko, the head of the department where Yuliya was studying, wrote. |

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
"The United States has said it takes NATO's security seriously after an incident involving the violation of Polish airspace by Belarusian military helicopters. "There is a process that allows NATO countries to invoke Article Five. We are not at that stage at the moment," emphasized State Department spokesman Miller." _________ ""Why are there so few liberated territories?" Here's why. This is why war is not a football match. There are many Russian fortifications in the occupied territories, and demining is an extremely difficult, dangerous, and time-consuming process."

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
Basically, if one country attacks any NATO country it's considered an attack on them all. A declaration of war and NATO countries would join forces to stop it. The key section of the treaty is Article 5. Its commitment clause defines the casus foederis. It commits each member state to consider an armed attack against one member state, in the areas defined by Article 6, to be an armed attack against them all. Upon such attack, each member state is to assist by taking "such action as [the member state] deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area." The article has only been invoked once, but considered in a number of other cases.

Click the white arrows in the quotes to see the OPs. A follow up on the helicopter crash on 18 January of this year. The number killed/wounded is accurate in the statement below, versus the quotes above. "The SBI reconstructed the helicopter's tragic flight in detail and published a recording of the pilots' negotiations before the crash. The crew, untrained for such difficult flights, was flying at an extremely low altitude - even lower than the height of the buildings on the route. When the commander saw an obstacle, the helicopter rose sharply and was lost in space. This led to the crash - the helicopter landed next to a kindergarten, damaging it and neighboring houses. In addition to Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky and his deputy, Yevhen Yenin, four women and a young child were killed. 31 people, including 13 children, were injured." #highprofile #kyiv

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II
If I find anything else about this before I go offline in about 30 minutes, I will update this post. "Poland has deployed attack helicopters to the border with Belarus after Belarusian Mi-24 and Mi-8 violated its airspace. The helicopters will be based in two locations and will operate in an "immediate response mode." The Polish side has warned that the helicopters are "ready for battle" and "will not hesitate to use weapons." Meanwhile, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry summons the Polish ambassador. Belarusian authorities deny violating Polish airspace and demand explanations."
