RPG-7 VL can penetrate the turret armor of M1A2 Abrams but not the forward side armor. It was specifically designed to combat composite armor and has a penetration value of 500 RHA. However, due to increased charge and caliber its effective radius is decreased to 300m.

And, admittedly, the hit must be very well-angled. In lab conditions it can penetrate, but in battlefield conditions the whole thing of 1) getting within 300m 2) successfully making a shot 3) hitting the turret 4) at the right angle to penetrate looks extremely unlikely. Though in theory - yes, it can penetrate.

Bottom line: don’t go shooting the side of the Abrams with an RPG-7. You do have a chance to immobilise or even completely destroy an M1A2 with an RPG-7, but in practice this is only possible in an ambush scenario.
