EDIT: when he was first identified, I saw pro-UA sources reporting two different names and different units that he was a part of. Still seeing some of that due to sources just parroting other sources, but the information I posted in the media thread about his identification is what official UA sources are reporting, so I went with that information.

The different info I'm seeing from non official UA sources said his body had been recovered and bullet holes matched what was seen in the video. But official sources are stating that his body has not been recovered as the execution took place in an occupied region.

So today several sources are reporting that the first identification of this guy is correct. Apparently the Ukrainian Security Service has confirmed his identity as Oleksandr Matsyievskyi. A sniper of the 163rd Battalion of the 119th Separate Brigade. This was also initially reported by the "North" military operation in Chernihiv region.

He was shot on 30 December 2022 and his body was returned home in February 2023.

I have no idea why there aren't more discussions about the fact there was a different name used to identify him. I'll keep posting anything new I find.

It was possible to finally confirm Hero's data after a complex of investigative actions, which included communication with relatives and relatives of the deceased, as well as the processing of photo and video materials.

In addition, the SBU received the conclusion of a forensic portrait examination, which confirmed that the soldier in the video is exactly Oleksandr Matsievskyi.

"This is a real Hero who, even facing death, demonstrated to the whole world what Ukrainian character and indomitability are. These are the defenders who defend our land today, which means that the enemy will definitely be defeated. Because the Great Victory of Ukraine consists of heroic deeds of people like Oleksandr Matsievsky. Glory to the hero! Glory to heroes! Glory to Ukraine!" - noted SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk.

The head of the Security Service added that the special service is working on identifying the occupiers who committed this bloody crime.

"We will do everything to make these inhumans suffer the deserved punishment," emphasized Vasyl Malyuk.

Oleksandr Matsievskyi was called up for military service in March 2022. Since the end of December, he was considered missing near the settlement of Krasna Gora in the Donetsk region.

As the SBU managed to establish, Oleksandr Matsievsky was shot on December 30, 2022. His body was returned home in February 2023.

Currently, the SBU is taking comprehensive measures to identify the Russian servicemen who committed this crime. The pre-trial investigation is carried out under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).

The measures are conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General."
