If you come across a Japanese flag with the signatures on it like that, those are considered sacred by the surviving family. They're called 日の丸 (ひのまる) (Hinomaru) and are considered almost as valued as ashes would have beeb since many Japanese service members knew they'd get lost at sea or otherwise never return to their homeland because of distance and the self-sacrificial notions of combat to them at the time. They're neat, but if you find the descendants of the person who had the flag, you'd likely make a lifelong set of friends in Japan. |
