It was no holds barred in the Pacific and Eastern Fronts, kill or be killed. There was at least some respect from both sides on the Western Front (although dont take that wrong it was BAD).

Just a dead check, pretty common in that encounter. Japs would pull a pin and hold on until someone came close. Just standard procedure in that day/age/location.
