Then, maybe, you won`t be so hasty to call yourself a patriot.

Great misrepresentation of those acts, those laws are written to protect us from terrorist from using our laws against us. The 9-11 high jackers were able to operate with protections that serve them not us. But if you want to believe that our president is going to declare marshal law a d start arresting innocent people then I suppose your life consists of you living in paranoia. I think it shows brains to make laws that may be considered against American protocol but are necessary to protect people, instead of having to have prove, or not being able to act quickly on intelligence gathered. The patriot act has already saved American lives, and took away a huge tool in the terrorist playbook. You act as if Americans will loose citizenship or be secretly imprisoned, that won't happen and if it did I would stand with you against it. When it comes to a terrorist attack that might mean hundreds even thousands of lives they don't have months to build a case for a warrant.

The point is the Bush Government removed the laws that prevented it from happening.
Right now, nothing is stopping the Government from doing any of what he posted, from listening in on your phone conversations to arresting you without cause and holding you indfinitely.

Those are your rights that are being eroded, under names like "the patriot act" which make it sound good.

Its happening right now.

And everything is in place so that in the case of another large terror attack, there will be no debates, votes etc...... there is nothing from stopping it. Not lawyers, not Human Rights organizations, not the people either.
The laws have passed.
You realize Bush was going to declare Martial Law if there was another attack right? Do you know what that means?

Nik, that's already happened so don't ever say what "they won't do". You don't know what the future has in store.

Those laws represent pure fascism and they turn regular citizens like you and I into suspects. Under the Military Commission Act you can be executed if deemed an enemy combatant w/o anyone being told, including family. Wtf is that about? What if this power ever fell into the wrong hands?

The constitution isn't going to stop anything thats already been passed.... For once you should actually look into it..... this is reality.
