Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VI
Ukraine wanted to increase its exports by benefiting from free trade with the EU while attracting desirable external investments, as well as establishing closer ties with a sociopolitical entity to which many Ukrainians feel strong cultural connection. Western Ukraine is found to be generally more enthusiastic about EU membership than Eastern Ukraine, no surprise there and according to a 2012 poll, 46% of Ukrainians supported the view that Ukraine should become an EU member while 33%t rejected the idea. Even in the Donbas region and Crimea, people aged 18–29 did not differ from their peers who lived in other parts of the country. Data showed that 51% of the youth in the eastern part of the country were in favour of Ukraine’s membership in the EU, while only 22% were against. Besides, the attitude toward EU membership depended on the level of people’s awareness. The poll showed that 52% of Ukrainians who were well-informed about the talks between Ukraine and EU on the Association Agreement were in favour of membership. Pro-European views increased after EuroMaidan and the first Russian invasion. The number of supporters of EU integration increased from 47% in December 2013 to 57% in December 2014, while the share of proponents of integration into the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan dropped from 26% to 16% in the same period. These sentiments remained unchanged despite the total overhaul of the government (president and parliament) in 2019. After one year of presidency of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 48% of Ukrainians believed that integration with the EU was the best policy option for Ukraine, while support for the Customs Union with Russia fell to 11%. The number of supporters of EU integration increased from 47% in December 2013 to 57% in December 2014, while the share of proponents of integration into the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan dropped from 26% to 16% in the same period. Bet Putin didn't like that and had to come up with a plan to stop the Ukrainian sentiment as Ukraine is, like said before, economic important for russia esp. the Donbass, mining, black sea ports, grain shipping routes etc. plus he saw his great empire dream starting to crumble down even more. The whole Ukr is ruled by Nazis propaganda is used by Russia to put his people behind this whole invasion. The educated didn't fall for that and a lot fled the country so he mostly sent in (even forced) by mobilisation, ethnic minority groups who are poor and less educated. Chechens and Buryats were responsible for the war crimes in Bucha. https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2...ght-in-ukraine That doesn't mean there were no neo nazis in Azov but to label a whole Country is ridiculous. Even Germany faced neo nazis in their Bundeswehr and dealt with that just like Ukraine dealt with the neo nazis in Azov. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VI
Oh, well, give me a few dozen videos then. This is the right forum for gore and death videos, so ... bring it. Add in the video description, add locations, dates and some evidence that what's on the video really takes place in Ukraine and is directed against the ruz. Oh, you don't have those videos because it was removed from YT? Well, arent we lucky that Russia has its own media channels and servers that are handled by Russia. Surely, they would not remove any of the "so many videos" and you can share them here. Im sure Chris wont remove them either. I did a quick search on russia - ukraine - nazis and found mostly russians killing random people and 1 generic youth death cult that killed everyone. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VI
First I ve never called UA Nazi country, it’s stupid. ( if that comment was adressed to me), I was always saying that in 2014 pro-Nazi took power. Tyagnibok with Svoboda, and other parties of that nature, for whom NAZI SS fellas are heroes. Like that old dude who ashamed the whole Canadian parliament, because of whom speaker resigned, because of whom Polaks and Jews communities raged. Well believe it or not, while west reacted the way it should, in Ukraine he considered a hero ( not for every Ukrnian, but for those who took power, and that’s important, because that’s how they going to teach their kids). Also idk why you bring up the numbers..it’s the steps made by the west that triggered Russia. And not desire of population of UA. We are talking about geopolitics, and not exactly what people want. People or Russia didn’t want this war, people of Ukraine ( majority was working) didn’t want that Maidn to happen, Americans didn’t want fight those wars overseas and so on. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VI
This article concerns Estonia, but shows to what lengths Russia will go to stage things to fit its own narrative. https://news.postimees.ee/4078093/se...-nazi-labeling Security agency: Russia sent own right-wing extremists to Estonia for Nazi labeling Sticking labels on Estonia is typical for Russian propaganda and there have been cases where right-wing extremists have been brought in from Russia to display Nazi symbols during Estonian events, Estonia's Internal Security Service (ISS) says in its yearbook for 2016 published on Wednesday. "We have noticed a tendency to delegate right-wing extremists from Russia to Estonian events in order to publicly display Nazi symbols, which leads to media coverage of this 'social problem' in Estonia. One of the best examples from last year is the attempted provocation where the St. Petersburg skinhead Aleksei Maksimov was sent to Estonia to be captured on film as a 'local Nazi activist'," the yearbook says. Maksimov crossed the border dressed in clothes that covered his arms and legs, but when going to the memorial event for the fallen in the Battle for the Tannenberg Line, he changed into clothes that revealed his neo-Nazi tattoos, including a swastika. "The Kremlin-controlled media was naturally eager to pick this up as an example of events in Estonia. As they had to send in an activist from St. Petersburg to play the role, it showed that the label was difficult to stick and the methods suggest desperation," ISS says. The Kremlin is attempting to make greater use of the internet and social media in its anti-West, including anti-Estonian, influence operations. This is to save costs rather than to keep up with the times or pioneer novel opportunities. Remarkably, the Kremlin's anti-Estonian influence projects had financial problems in 2016, it stands in the yearbook. "Russian media projects are being created to influence the Russian-speaking people in foreign countries and also the policies of their countries of residence. Although the desired result is often not achieved, such attempts are not being waived but are rather becoming more consolidated. The activities of the Baltnews propaganda portals, which are targeted at Russian-speaking communities in the Baltic states and have been mentioned in earlier annual reviews of ISS, are coordinated by several employees of Rossiya Segodnya," ISS says. These coordinators also regularly communicate recommended topics to the offices of Sputnik, the official sub-division of Rossiya Segodnya. Messages of Russia distributed through the entire network are coordinated in this way. Rossiya Segodnya also obliges the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Baltnews portals to cooperate with the Sputnik offices and to support and repeat the news they publish. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread VI
Yup, thats the kidn of shit russia does. Years ago, there was a mass protest here by "russians". Noone was surprised when it turned out that Russia bussed in those "protesters" from Moscow. Same shit happened in Donbass and happens during Putins speeches. Russia brings its own audience to media events.
