Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
It's a third front opening and done by special forces. russians have to move their troops and equipment back and forth and that's bleeding them out logistic and mental wise. To pose a real threat they need a reliable bridge/pontoons/ferries for heavy equipment and serious daily tonnage of supplies. It also is a relatively "short" distance to the occupied Crimea (83km). Russians report a huge column of Ukrainians vehicles going to Kherson, maybe towards bridgehead? Parts of that are posted yet online. It's the new 39th brigade. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
Yeah, that’s what I was getting at, but on the offensive side rather than defensive. I can’t remember where I saw it now, but there was a gains report from a week or so back that showed the Ukrainians gaining only a couple hundred meters, but they were important high ground somewhere near Bakhmut and, even just looking at it in overhead map, showed that a new left-flank had been established for the Russians. That’s bigger than just what tale 300m would tell. Creating new flanks are the kind of gains that change reports of “Meh, the line shifted 100m today.” to “Holy shit! They came out of nowhere and rolled up the enemies flank, and moved the center 100km today!” I’m not saying that’s what we’re going to see here in the near term, but that was kind of the story of Kherson, and it seems like a lot of things he Ukrainians’ line movements have been jockeying for a bigger gain later. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
One thing I've noticed is that the ZSU (Ukrainian Army) is no longer just sending probes, shelling and then attacking the weakest settlements directly. They're shelling the hell out of high ground occupied by RU forces, taking it with mech infantry and then using the elevated height to more easily attack lower elevation RU areas and bleeding them out until they're especially vulnerable to mechanized assaults. They're being more methodical and careful, this ain't the Kharkiv offensive anymore. Layered defensive fortifications are a mean bitch |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
Pro russians were yelling at this pro Russian for acknowledging the recent river raid.. A seldom seen glimpse at a Lil bit of truth... I counted like 1 or 2 thanking him for being truthful out of the ~70 I skimmed over He berates them decently.

Following an emergency meeting, Russia's central bank has raised the interest rates to from 8.5% to 12% in an attempt to strengthen the collapsing ruble.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
I'm sure we've all seen these graphics of Russian drones, missiles and aircraft that Ukraine shoots down. Here is a peek at one for 14 August being made.
