Your entitled to your opinion BUT who's to say that the scene upon the battlefield changed just for a min & he thought that the coast was clear to extract his team member & miss judgement in this war is like trying to hand out speeding tickets at the Indie 500 !
Semper Fi plays a very big part in fire support & securing an area under fire & who the fuck knows where the bullet came from to drop the rescuer. The UAF Hero went to his brothers aid & tried to extract him & give him life support until he could be evact out so he made the decision to do so under a great deal of stress I might add & you presume that he's or was stupid !
I suppose your also going to say that because a soldier steps left instead of right & gets hit, he is stupid 2 as bullets can come from anywhere.
Semper Fi though is not only built into soldiers, it's also inbuilt in every individual, to want to help & protect life. If you saw someone lying in the street bleeding out, would you not stop & try to save that soul ? I guess some are built differently than others Jkesil & to compare one situation to a "being smart wins wars" comment is ludicrous. No wars "are smart" as you put it, it's just what happens in war, when it does happen that matters & Semper Fi is ANY Soldiers middle name, Courage, Honour, Loyalty, Sacrifice, & that matters as it binds the AF together in brotherhood & that my friend is not only worth saving but it's also worth protecting.

You can sleep well in your bed at night only because there are men & women who choose to keep visual over your sorry ass because they believe in the above & it's called Semper Fi !
