UKR has a "surrender hotline". Any russian soldier can just call there, state his position and ask to be taken in etc. Thats probably what happened. Otherwise this BMP would have shot before its close enough to see these white flags.

There's a telega channel called I want to live that RU soldiers can go on with instructions and numbers that are manned all the time. They also just reiterated the bounties for equipment upon surrender. A tank is worth $50k with surrender, MLRS $15K, I think a BMP was somewhere near 10k and armored vehicles $5k.

Kind of a genius move. Even the most ardent russian patriot would likely surrender if it meant 5k$ .
