Re: ⚔️RUSSIA | UKRAINE War Thread DIRECTORY⚔️
HASHTAGS Last Updated: 6 August 2024 At the moment, the use of hashtags is only taking place in the war section; specifically the Russia/Ukraine war media threads. In certain situations, they may be used in other threads in the case of incidents such as the KHPP dam explosion, liberation of territories, etc. but for the most part, their use is in the media threads. Below is a list of the hashtags that have been created specifically for the RU/UA combat media threads as well as a brief description of it and what kind of media applies to each. The goal is to try to make certain types of media easily accessible by category or subject matter and to do so as simply and uniformly as possible. We want to try not to be too specific or use different hashtags for the same kind of media. With all that in mind, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding the hashtag system overall, specifically in this section: ⏺ Hashtags should be placed on their own line without any regular text. They can be put anywhere in a post, provided they are on a line by themselves. When they’re added in descriptions with regular text it causes the formatting on mobile phones to appear broken and out of order. ⏺ Hashtags will not work if placed next to any symbols or punctuation. This includes symbols used in the formatting in the editor such as []. They will not work with dashes or hyphens within them. ⏺ None of the hashtags are plural for simplicity sake with only one exception; "smallarms". (civilian vs. civilians, drone vs. drones, etc.) ⏺ Hashtags are not case sensitive. i.e. hashtag Bakhmut and bakhmut will end up on the same hashtag list as will uva/UVA, NATO/nato, etc. ⏺ If there is a hashtag with “ru” (Russia) in it, there is also the same one with “ua” (Ukraine) in it. i.e. ruship, uaship, rupow, uapow, deadru, deadua. ⏺ For now, there are only location specific hashtags by Ukrainian or Russian oblasts (oblasts=similar to states, provinces or large counties). Please note that I've included all the oblasts in Ukraine but some of them may never be used. For now, the only exceptions to this are specific locations like Bakhmut, Bucha, Irpin, and Mariupol due to the prolific and significant fighting or situations that have happened or are currently taking place there. There may be more specific places added in the future but for the most part, oblast names should be as specific as it gets. The hashtags “occupiedterritory” for occupied Ukrainian territories and “russianterritory” for locations in Russia can be used as well, if known. Occupied territory should be reserved for locations that were already occupied before the start of the invasion, since 2014. ⏺ There are several variations on spelling of location names according to Ukrainian English spelling and Russian English spelling. Regardless if it is an area occupied by Russia or not, if a location is in Ukraine, the Ukrainian spelling of the name will be used. i.e. Bakhmut vs. Artemovsk, Zaporizhzhia vs. Zaporozhye, Kharkiv vs. Kharkov, Odesa vs. Odessa, Donbas vs. Donbass, Makiivka vs. Makeevka, Avdiivka vs. Avdeevka, Kyiv vs. Kiev, etc. Spelling variations in descriptions are up to the original poster. ⏺ Sometimes a hashtag will not work and it will appear just as regular text with a # in front of it. I haven't figured out why this happens but to fix it, go into editor and copy the full code for one that is working, paste it where the non-working one is and replace the two hashtag words with the word that's not working. For example: if you use the hashtag "watercraft" and the hashtag "drone" and only drone is not appearing as a hashtag link, edit the post and copy the working code (no spaces), paste it and replace the words "watercraft" with "drone". no space-->[ URL=https://www.documentingreality.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=watercraft]#watercraft<--no space no space-->[ URL=https://www.documentingreality.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=drone]#drone<--no space ⏺ This list will evolve and change often. I will be adding more weapons/equipment hashtags over time as well. Re: ⚔️RUSSIA | UKRAINE War Thread DIRECTORY⚔️
UPDATE 5 May 2025: Added some new watermarks. Feel free to use them if needed. :) I thought I would share some tools/resources I use regularly to post media in case anyone wants to use them. Things to keep in mind when uploading photos and videos: ⚡️JPG/JPEG and MP4 formats are ideal (vs. PNG and MOV). PNGs will work if they are under about 300KB such as the watermarks below. ⚡️Video file size must be under 99mb, although 70mb or below is ideal. ⚡️Filenames should be short and with no spaces otherwise a bunch of symbols will appear and enlarge the post. ⚡️All jpgs must be uploaded before any video or the videos won't show up and can only be downloaded to view. However, you can upload them in any order provided you attach every photo within the body of your post using the paper clip button in the advanced editor. 1. Upload photo 2. Place cursor in the body of your post where you want the photo to go (arrow) and click the paper clip button then choose the attachment. My first choice for YouTube downloader is a program called ClipGrab: https://clipgrab.org/ ✳️YouTube video downloader: https://www.y2mate.com/en865 ✳️YouTube thumbnail downloader: https://www.softr.io/tools/download-youtube-thumbnail ✳️Twitter video downloader: https://twittervideodownloader.com/ ✳️Reddit video downloader: https://rapidsave.com/ ⏺Yandex image translator (translate text from image): https://translate.yandex.com/ocr ⏺Photo collage creator: https://gandr.io/online-collage-maker.html ⏺Add text to photo (add DR watermark, included a few below. Limited number allowed a day but I just take SS and crop them): https://watermarkly.com/add-text-to-photo/ ✴️.mov to .mp4 file converter (.mov files don't always play for some members): https://www.freeconvert.com/mov-to-mp4 ✴️Video file compressor - (the site only allows videos under 99mb, but ideal file size is under 70mb.): https://www.freeconvert.com/video-compressor ✴️Video trimmer: https://online-video-cutter.com/ ✴️Video watermark removal/censor: https://online-video-cutter.com/remove-logo ✴️Shotcut (full function, completely free, open source video editor): https://shotcut.org/ ⚠️Media rating, reputation and verification: https://ground.news/ ⚠️Everyone's Internet News Presswire (M-E-T-A news distributor that indicates source bias'): https://www.einpresswire.com/ ➡️Ukraine News: https://world.einnews.com/country/ukraine ➡️Russian News: https://world.einnews.com/country/russia ➡️Israel News: https://world.einnews.com/country/israel ➡️Palestine News: https://world.einnews.com/country/palestine Standard keyboard emojis will work on the site. Use the Emoji's on your phones keyboard or bring up Emoji panel with Windows key+ . on PC or Control+Command+Spacebar on Mac
