✌Russia/Ukrainian War Discussion Thread: This is for all in depth or general discussion of anything related to the war that is not directly related to the media in the main thread. Also, any extensive conversations from the main media thread should be moved in here to prevent cluttering it up with text. You can also post anything in here that doesn’t necessarily fit in any of the other dedicated threads.

⚔️Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media: This thread is exclusively for any information/media pertaining to mobilizations of forces, directly related war protests, or relevant acts of sabotage. BERDIANSK / BERDYANSK PORT ATTACK - SINKING OF RUSSIAN SHIP “SARATOV” - 24 March 2022

Summary (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berdiansk_port_attack) At 07:45 on 24 March 2022, a strike was carried out by Ukrainian forces against the Russian Navy ships moored in the Port of Berdiansk. The Alligator-class landing ship Saratov was sunk and two Ropucha-class landing ships, Caesar Kunikov and Novocherkassk, took damage but were able to leave the port and return to Crimea.

Fire onboard the Saratov caused a massive explosion as the vessel was laden with ammunition. Russia reported the ship had sunk following a fire and explosions, but did not mention the Ukrainian attack. Unconfirmed reports suggested that 8 crewmen were killed on the Caesar Kunikov and 3 on the Novocherkassk, but losses on the Saratov were not reported. Other damage at the port included large oil tanks on the pier and a nearby merchant ship that had been moored there since before the invasion, both of which were still burning the next day.

Ukrainian officials claimed that the attack was carried out with a OTR-21 Tochka tactical ballistic missile.

Summary (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Antonov_Airport) The battle of Antonov Airport, also known as the Battle of Hostomel Airport, was a military engagement which occurred at the Antonov Airport in Hostomel, Kyiv Oblast, during the Kyiv offensive of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On 24 February 2022, shortly after the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a “special military operation” in Ukraine, Russian troops of the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) made an air assault on Antonov Airport with the objective of capturing it. The airport held strategic value as it was located less than 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) outside of the capital Kyiv, which would allow Russian troops to airlift more troops and heavier equipment to directly threaten the city. However, the Ukrainian military responded with a counter-attack which encircled the unsupported Russian forces and repelled the initial assault. The attack resumed on the next day with another air assault by the VDV combined with a ground assault by armored reinforcements coming from the Belarusian border, breaking through the Ukrainian defenses. The airport was then captured by the Russian forces. Despite this, the unexpected Ukrainian resistance foiled the plans of a quick capitulation of Kyiv, and the airport was too damaged to be used as a functional airstrip.

The Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world's largest airplane, was destroyed in its hangar during the battle.

Summary (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kremen...ng_mall_attack) The battle On 27 June 2003, Russian Armed Forces fired two Kh-22 anti-ship missiles, fired by Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, into central Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast, hitting the Amstor shipping mall and the Kredmash road machinery plant. A fire broke out and the attack killed at least 20 people and injured at least 56. Russian media and officials carried conflicting stories about the attack.
