Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

I hope Ukraine understands the context. Their hero and national treasure Bandera, in some other nations (according to those countries’ false history) is not quite as cherished. So this is not an attack on their core identity and beliefs, but rather a probably mistaken hatred towards a strong and proud Ukrainian warrior who according to them, simply took out some of the trash. People really need to understand the context. It is easy to hate on Bandera and the Holocaust, but talk to some Ukrainians and just listen to their version of history and maybe then people understand what they believe

"Russian woman holding a part of a car’s gearbox complains about ‘Ukrainians using them for shelling russian children’"
Yeah that sucks... if it happened. Kids are a tragic consequence. But, maybe don't support the invasion of a sovereign nation and 17 months of slaughter of Ukrainian men, women, and children and you won't have this issue.

"Russian occupiers from the 72nd Brigade are burying whatever is left of their comrades who were stuck in a Grad vehicle waiting for an order that never came, and condemn their leadership. The vehicle was destroyed with a precision Ukrainian strike. 72nd Brigade replaced Wagner units in Bakhmut."

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

Russia adds additional hurdles for exiting foreign companies.

Story by Reuters • Yesterday 10:27 pm

Foreign companies seeking to leave Russia face additional hurdles after Russia's finance ministry added new requirements involving corporate exits, including a two-year limit on options to buy shares back.

Navigating the rules has become harder and harder for Western firms aiming to withdraw from Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, executives have told Reuters, with uncertainty and even the threat of nationalisation hanging over those still present.

The government commission that monitors foreign investment has to grant approval for deals involving companies from so-called "unfriendly" countries - those that have imposed sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine war.

This week, the finance ministry added requirements that had been previously mooted by the authorities to the commission's list.

New owners of assets purchased from companies leaving the country must float up to 20% of the acquired shares on the stock exchange within a specified timeframe, something the central bank has said will give investors in Russia more variety.

That stipulation would not apply to previously completed deals, the central bank has said.

Clauses giving the departing foreign owners an option to buy shares back, which many exiting companies have inserted into contracts, must expire within no more than two years.

The Vedomosti daily on Friday quoted a source close to the government as saying that the logic behind the adjustments was to make it harder for companies to exit.

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

Also,

Trade body considers calling for EU ban on Russian aluminium, but not Rusal.

LONDON (Reuters) -Europe's aluminium industry group has considered actively lobbying for European Union sanctions on Russian aluminium but would oppose specifically targeting the country's largest producer Rusal, according to a document sent to members.

The head of trade group European Aluminium said the group prepared the internal memorandum for planning purposes and that they had no information about any imminent European Union sanctions. The European Commission declined to comment.

The document, seen by Reuters, said members of European Aluminium had discussed the possibility of "actively calling for EU sanctions on Russian aluminium."

The document, dated July 2023, refers to "the possible imposition of restrictive measures on Russian aluminium in the framework of the EU Common Foreign Security Policy".

But while substituting other supply for Russian ingots would be feasible in Europe, the wide global spread of Rusal's operations makes sanctions on the company more difficult, the memorandum said.

"Due to its strategic importance on the global aluminium market, European Aluminium recommends avoiding that EU sanctions would target Rusal as a company," the association said.

Rusal, which did not reply to a request for comment, produced 4 million metric tons of primary aluminium last year, about 6% of global supply.

The document pointed out that Rusal owns Ireland's Aughinish, the EU's largest refinery of raw material alumina, as well as the Kubal smelter in Sweden.

The benchmark aluminium price on the London Metal Exchange was up 0.2% at $2,282.50 a metric ton in afternoon trading, having declined by 4% so far this year.

SANCTIONS LIMITED SO FAR

The EU has so far imposed only very limited sanctions on aluminium products from Russia over its Ukraine invasion. It has restricted imports of a limited number of specific aluminium products from Russia - aluminium plates, sheets or strip with thickness exceeding 0.2 mm.

Its latest sanctions package was adopted in June and active discussion on another package are not expected in the near term.

In February the United States announced plans to impose a 200% tariff on aluminium and derivatives produced in Russia while in May, Britain published plans to ban imports of Russian aluminium along with diamonds, copper and nickel.

"Our members asked us to consider the issue and this is purely an internal exercise," Director General Paul Voss told Reuters. "There is no suggestion at all as far as I'm aware that the Commission is planning any new sanctions at this stage."

The document says the EU's dependence on Russian aluminium has fallen since 2018, when the United States slapped sweeping sanctions on Rusal, which froze the bulk of the company's exports as well as paralysing global supply chains.

Last year, Russian aluminium ingots made up 12% of EU imports, down from 25% in 2018, it said.

Due to the widespread disruption of the aluminium industry by the 2018 U.S. sanctions, Washington scrapped them in 2019.

If the EU imposed sanctions on Russia, it also must make sure that supply does not evade the measures through third countries, the document said.

"Specific attention should be given to Turkey and China which are seen by several analysts as current and future alternative destinations for Russian metal."

The industry group said any sanctions would need a "reasonable transition period" so alternative sources could be found, especially for certain products, such as alloyed ingots.

In Moscow and Ryazan, the FSB allegedly caught Russian neo-Nazis from the Paragraph 88 group with new, freshly ironed Waffen SS T-shirts that they wore when they were scouting out planned crime scenes undercover. Allegedly, an assassination attempt on Margarita Simonyan and Kseniya Sobchak was foiled.

A Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition, rubber truncheon, knife, brass knuckles and handcuffs were allegedly confiscated from them.

Those arrested have allegedly already confirmed that they were preparing attacks on orders from the Ukrainian SBU, with a reward of 1.5 million rubles per murder.

One of the assassins is said to be called Mikhail Balashov.

Sense of the action probably: staging a dark threat to Russia by Nazis to unite the people behind the leader Putin. With the action, the FSB is also presenting itself as capable of acting in the midst of the chaos that is just breaking out in Russia. The action is also intended to cover up the fact that Russia has meanwhile become a fascist state itself. NIce try to distract the attention from the total mess in Russia.

Recently, it has already come to light that Prigozhin had staged the genocide of Russians in the Donbass as a reason for the war with actors in the media.

Footage of the interrogation of 18-year-old neo-Nazi and founder of the Paragraph 88 group, Mikhail Balashov. He, along with accomplices, was preparing an attempt on Margarita Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak.

According to him, before the murder, he conducted reconnaissance of the residence of the editor-in-chief of RT. After that, the curator had to leave him a weapon to assassinate. When Balashov came to the place where the machine gun and everything needed were lying, he was detained by the FSB. On the video - candid and the results of a search in the apartment.

Balashov and five other accomplices have already been taken to the Basmanny Court.

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Mobilization, Protests & Sabotage Media III

Although no evidence has been presented that the Ukrainian government sponsored the killing of Russian journalists, there is, however, evidence that Russian forces have murdered journalists in Ukraine.

French non-profit NGO Reporters Without Borders reported that it had "registered more than 50 attacks against journalists and media that qualify as war crimes," including 7 murders and 13 abductions, including 4 instances of torture or mistreatment. The organization added that 13 TV towers and media outlets had been damaged or destroyed by airstrikes, missile attacks or artillery fire.
