Banning or at least heavily regulating/investigating the Russian church in Ukraine makes sense. Its entire role is to control and manipulate people...and the people in control live in Moscow. You don't want your enemy to have great control over your people at the time of war.

To me to call war Holly and to call to wipe out the entire nation are two different things. So far I remember only one head of church who approved the war and called Donbas people bad words - ex head of Ukrainian Church Filaret.

I could be wrong - but I could have sworn I saw a video with Kirill calling it a holy of war - or at least something of that sort. Plus that weird guy giving that speech months ago in Moscow literally calling it a holy war to the crowd's applause.
