Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
In some form I admire Russians. You can't generalize the whole lot of them, but there are some strong personal traits which many of them display. Take a country who lost 26 million people total, soldiers and civilians in WW2. That's going to change a society at its foundation for many generations. Two whole age groups of Russian males were basically eradicated fighting the Germans. This makes them hardy and capable of withstanding significant hardship. The Cold War combined with extreme xenophobic attitudes on both sides added a whole new factor and this was when Russia was at it most capable. |

Butthurt? Not really, just think it's unfortunate when people allow their emotions to overcome their senses. Not everyone can be put in the same box based on where they're from, what they look like, or your preconceived notions of the lot of them.

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
Sympathy for the normal russians if they get dragged to war against their will. Army reserve should be reserved for defence war only, as morale is obviously very low if standard citizens get dragged to fight offensive wars they don't care about. No sympathy for legitimate pro-Putin, pro-Ukraine war russians, overall better for humanity if all of them get wiped out completely. Violence is the only language they understand and listen. Especially pathetic are the pro-Putin russian shills that dodge the draft or live outside of Russia. If you're going to defend the tyrannical war effort, then at least fight for your country like a man. |

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
The lyrics of the Vietnam song "Fortunate Son" by Credence Clearwater come to mind. This is Russia today and they are currently experiencing it in their own version. "Some folks inherit, star spangled eyes, who that send you down to war, And when you ask 'em how much should we give, whooo the only answer more, more, more, no. |
