Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Compliment? You lopped me in with your perception of the western propaganda machine. I don't believe it was a compliment. But that's ok. That's the easy thing to do when you don't understand something. Relate it to something you're more familiar with and call it a day.

I personally, never said my sources for anything were Twitter/Telegram. I remember seeing a related exchange to which I was not a part of.

Generally, I do not use Twitter, Telegram or any other social media as sources. It goes against my instinctual grain for truth. I abhor the big media giants such as CNN, FOX, MSN, etc.

Social media in general has become something I see as a tool for mostly negativity. If I do use something from Twitter or Telegram, it's only because there are multiple other sources from all sides of the isle saying the same thing.

I've used the other media giants as sources as well but only when there are multiple other sources from other sides/views to use as well. I try to use as much "independent" non-conglomerate sources as possible. Also, government sources of information are handled with care as well.

Opsec is also a major factor in both our stream and our news posts. We also push "verified" information so sometimes our articles are a few days late. In our minds, better to be accurate and late. Hopefully we'll get more proficient.

My point is that we are not all able to be put into a general western box (or American, or Russian, or any other label). Trying to operate outside the lines of any stereotype is challenging as conforming is the easy path. But for me, the truth overrules all and is what's most important regardless of how hard it is to find and how much it may hurt to hear sometimes.

Our group definitely has room to improve as far as gathering opposition sources and that is a big task I have to take on as some of our news people from the past were not very selective in their sourcing. But the goal is to present a headline, some general facts and then information from all sides. That allows the reader to be fully informed in one article and able to use the information to read between the lines on what makes the most sense to them.

Finding reliable legitimate sources for Russian information is tricky for me, so if you have any sources outside of Telegram and Twitter you would recommend, please let me know. I'm always on the hunt for that kind of stuff. Even if the information from one side to the other doesn't quite match up, the differences between them can be telling as well.

Apologies if I bit your head off in reaction to the "western journalist" comment. Like the words conservative and liberal... the word western has turned into a four-letter word. As someone trying to keep a grip on reality, I'm extra sensitive to that kind of stuff.

What the fuck? That's an M1 Abrams. I commanded a platoon of these. I am intrigued right now

Izyum area?
same intrigue, must be one of the ones we sent to Poland, there was speculation they were headed towards Ukraine. little odd, being they haven't even set up the training base yet. might of gotten a foreign legion to get it going.

I’d rather potentially be wrong about something, than to live everyday without knowing anything.

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Since Team Russia is in full cope retard mode I thought this was highly appropriate. Kudos to Boneface for sending me this gem.

Russia: We're not retreating because our asses are getting kicked, we're regrouping our forces to save the glorious people of the Donbas! NATO evil! American proxy war! Nazis!

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread

Rvvoenkory had this to say about Jominis map:

"Western version of the Balakleysky breakthrough scheme. In fact, a blow to the flank and rear of the Izyum group. In such a situation, not being able to close the hole at Balakleya, the withdrawal from the Izyum ledge was the only possible decision on the part of the command (letting the group die in Izyum, as the Armed Forces of Ukraine did in Mariupol, frankly, would be a mistake with much more catastrophic consequences), which made it possible to avoid the boiler and the complete collapse of the front.
But in any case, at the moment the operational crisis has not yet been fully overcome. In general, the whole story is that such breakthroughs of the front should not be allowed. It will obviously go down in history as the Balakleysky breakthrough."
