Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
This is funny, Stefan noted the presence of the light infantry and they totally blew the Kharkiv opsec, but he thought it was an indicator there wouldn't be a Kharkiv offensive as they were light. https://medium.com/@Stefan.Korshak/a...y-ed8669fc2322 "The second is yet another of a series of factoids that have surfaced in recent weeks leading me to strongly suspect the stance of the Ukraine Armed Forces (UAF) sector is attacking, and specifically using (relatively) high quality light infantry to infiltrate, assault and gain ground where the Russian Federation (RF) forces are weak. In the video one of the grunts chortles that the patrol is part of a larger operation to surround some Russian troops, and he mentions the RF special police unit Bars as one of the targets. Later, via other UAF-associated web feeds, images surfaced (attached) of identification documents of a RF service member from Bars, purportedly taken in combat in south-east Kharkiv sector, an area sometimes called the “Izium direction”." |

Re: Russia/Ukraine War Discussion/thoughts Thread
Бойцовый кот Мурз's Journal https://kenigtiger.livejournal.com/ Friday, September 9th, 2022 10:35 p.m. If our leaders had the ability to draw the right conclusions ... then the main conclusion from the events of recent days, in addition to private personnel decisions, should be the cessation of the formation "from scratch" of all kinds of regular volunteer battalions in the Russian Federation and the elimination of both the class of battalions and regiments "mobilized" in the NM LNR and DNR. This is an absolutely senseless expenditure of already very limited human resources. Either we are building full-fledged motorized rifle regiments-brigades-divisions with artillery and tanks, or ... our regiments and divisions that have become worn out and not replenished will continue to receive blows inflicted on the positions of "mobs", "BARS" and other units to conduct a full-fledged combined arms battle not ready and, most often, not yet trained. And further on, the combat-ready combined-arms vehicles that we still have will run along the front as "fire brigades", overcoming the hell that is happening in conditions that entail additional losses. Which will not be replenished, because no one will draw conclusions and the next battalions will be formed with a near-zero level of training and actual combat experience among personnel, with a command that has not been tested in battle, without heavy weapons and skills to use them, without full-fledged transport. Now, people who are not properly trained, not equipped with modern means of warfare, with which they know how to handle normally, are just grease for the tracks of Ukrainian tanks if they do not have time to escape. Actually, initially the same "BARS", which are "ARs" because they are "army reserve", were planned as a kind of spare parts for the formation of combat-ready replenishment, "rotation bases" of units of the RF Armed Forces. But this idea as a "business plan" did not suit the lovers of easy money, and what began began. We will steal as much as we can on the formation of new units, and what will happen to them at the front - do not care. Information about these frauds is leaking into the public field, but so far in very small doses. Apparently, it will take a lot more blood to change anything. If it changes at all. A normal topic would be a combination of regional patronage, including volunteer organizations, over already fighting units based in these very regions, with training bases based on BARS, where people from the front would constantly arrive in rotation to bring advanced experience. But in order for it to become so, something very large must die somewhere. Especially for those who, not understanding the current situation and military affairs in general, replicate with a mass of exclamation marks phrases like "Aviation is working, now it will crumble everyone!" and "Reserves approached and immediately join the battle! Hooray!". Dear Replicators! Try at least sometimes to think about what you write. If you want to spoil someone properly, for big losses and minimal results, make him join the battle from the march. Without reconnaissance, without preparation, in a new piece of terrain that he does not know. And, most likely, having received an artillery raid right on a dense column that drove up to the front. As for the typical scenario for the actions of our attack aircraft, it is forced to be like this. A pair of Su-25s at low level passes to the LBS, raises their noses for a second, from a pitch-up in one salvo fires all S-5 or S-8 unguided missiles from launchers suspended under the wings, immediately shoots heat traps and leaves at the same low level. Just now near Bakhmut / Artyomovsk, where we grabbed NATO mines for "Bereg"I have watched it live. The effectiveness of such strikes against an enemy who knows how to hide and disperse is doubtful, as all the experience of spring-summer battles shows. Efficiency against a well-fortified enemy is none. But our attack aircraft and helicopter pilots cannot do anything else - the enemy has a normal, echeloned military air defense. With us, this particular pair of "dryers" was apparently engaged in trying to crush 120-mm mortars that were thrown at the villages on the outskirts of Artyomovsk, where ours were entrenched. In general, I wish everyone who reposts less amazing stories in reposts, which experienced people will laugh at at best, and at worst they will simply unsubscribe. |

I'm sorry but I am pretty good at finding some good open source stuff that usually pans out. Reisner and Jomini seem to be respecting the ZSU Opsec request. Look at Stefan's post there on the 27th, he could have fucked the whole Kharkiv op up. |
