Government-subsidized poverty and gun violence that claims the lives of children both tend to frequent the same neighborhoods. Soldiers and war are not the only means through which our government destroys innocent lives. At least wars can end, whereas the leftist agenda to keep the plantation stocked with voting slaves is intended to be a much longer game.

Not that Im looking for thanks for 20+ years active duty service, but I get a pension and a disability from the VA for PTSD and other multiple injuries accrued while serving active duty, does that count too  |

You need to rethink it. I am not talking about self defense. I am talking about the brave guys who drop bombs from thousands of feet in the air, and the heroes whose drones blow civilians apart. The main goal of modern war is to kill civilians. It has been this way since the end of WWI. We are the invaders in the middle east.

WL is over the top, but I know where she is coming from. As a Vietnam vet I am aware of those situations where you can't easily draw a "combatant/civilian" distinction. Where the enemy melds with the local population which may appear to be friendly until your back is turned to march on. That said, I am also aware of officers and sergeants who went bat shit using the above as an excuse, slaughtering the innocent without any compunction. The widespread sufferings of civilians in war is not an exclusively modern phenomenon, although more technologically sophisticated means are available nowadays to inflict it. Study the history of the 100 Years War in Europe.

Just because you don't like something does make it unacceptable nor untrue. Philovan's point makes sense, but we can say that in all of America's other wars before WWII, the killing was aimed at soldiers. Starting with WWII and continuing to all other wars, civilians, including children, are the main casualties. Do you attribute this fact to poor aim, or a different strategy?
