Re: Personal Footage Taken when I Was Deployed
Well, you're from England. Obviously you would have a problem with the way Americans wage war, given that your country hasn't won an actual war since we got into that business. Maybe y'all should've waited until the 21st century to play the "failed empire" card instead of blowing your lead back in the late 1700s. |

I fucking hate it when people say 'Thank you for your service', why thank them for something they did willingly? Would you thank a binman for emptying your bins? Oh yea, I forgot to mention how sycophantic it sounds. |

Re: Personal Footage Taken when I Was Deployed
The back and forth reminds me of what I heard and read when I came back from Vietnam. The cycle never ends. Santayana's famous quote that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it applies with the addition that any lessons "learned" by one generation seem to be quickly forgotten by the next (or even sooner). Over and over again large (and small) scale conflicts in human history get boiled down to: "You've got it. I want it. I'm stronger than you. I'll take it." Then the "reasons and justifications" machine gets cranked up to obscure the above. The roles of "oppressors" and "victims" get interchanged when the power balances shift. Nobody occupies the "moral high ground". I suppose my cynicism is a little bit over the top and some legitimate exceptions to the above may be found, but you need to look hard before you accept any conflicts as such.

Re: Personal Footage Taken when I Was Deployed
They did kick your ass last time you fought them in 1812. The burned your White House to the ground as your president fled. Considering how your country spends on war, instead of things that would help people, you don't do very well. Viet Nam kicked your asses, and sent you guys running home. You are still trying to win in the Middle East, wasting money on all the troops you have there.
