Nukes are scary sure. Let’s remember that firebombing the populace was a routine task by 44-45. It wasn’t ‘just’ nukes that ended the war. Nukes were expensive. Incendiaries were cheap. Had Japan not surrendered, regardless of their reasoning, they would of roasted slower. |

Given how relations with Japan have (fortunately) improved significantly in the past several decades, it’s easy to forget we used to be at war with them. I think both countries learned valuable and painful lessons and moved forward. I wish other parts of the world would do the same.
