Chinese satellite imagery indicates that the USS Abraham Lincoln has moved away from Iran’s coast and is now operating near Salalah, Oman, behind the coastal mountain range. The carrier is now more than 1,100 km from Iran, after previously being observed about 350 km from the Iranian coast.

The USS Gerald R. Ford has also repositioned, moving further south in the Red Sea and operating off the coast of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this week, CENTCOM repudiated Iranian claims that the two aircraft carriers retreated from the Arabian Sea.

The open-source satellite imagery now available proves the carriers have indeed repositioned to be out of range of Iranian missiles.

In Figure 1, the location of the Lincoln Carrier on March 7th was highlighted in red, just outside the gulf of Oman, ~400km off the Iranian coast.

In Figure 2, the location of the Lincoln Carrier on March 15th was highlighted in red, near the western coast of Oman, ~1000km away from Iran. The location of the Ford Carrier was highlighted in blue, in the Red Sea.

The Washington Post says that more than 200 American soldiers have now been injured across 7 different countries by Iranian and Iranian proxy attacks with some in serious condition.

Interestingly, WaPo mentions that American soldiers have been injured in Israel meaning that Iran has successfully destroyed a THAAD or Patriot battery/radar stationed in the country or destroyed buildings at the Ovda or Ben Gurion airbases, but due to the IDF's military censorship, no satellite images were released to assess the damage.

IDF situation report past 24-hours:

1. IDF targeted strikes killed 2 key regime commanders (see above).

2. Iran fired five barrages at Israel yesterday, sending missiles into the north, center, south, and twice at Jerusalem. Air defenses intercepted most of them, but warheads and debris still hit residential areas. A home in Rishon Lezion was damaged, fragments landed near the National Library and the Knesset, and a large chunk of an intercepted missile struck a home in East Jerusalem. In the Old City, debris came down near the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Proving Israel’s worst enemy can often be itself, only one man in Jerusalem was wounded, because he touched a missile fragment.

3. Iran has not attacked any vessels in the Strait of Hormuz since March 12. That same day, anti-regime media published footage of a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet firing its cannon at extremely low altitude over Chabahar, on Iran’s coast along the Gulf of Oman. The footage suggests U.S. forces have established at least local air superiority along parts of the Iranian coastline—enough to intercept drones and anti-ship missiles at low altitude and protect shipping.
