Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)

Israel has agreed to daily, four-hour pauses in operations inside Gaza to allow more civilians to leave the northern part of the enclave and facilitate an increase in humanitarian aid entering from Egypt, the White House said Thursday. The pauses are to begin “today,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters, though Israel had offered similar windows for civilians to evacuate earlier in the week. The Israel Defense Forces’ statements Thursday did not mention an agreement for daily pauses, and did not offer specifics about their length. Asked to respond to the subsequent White House description, Elyon Levy, spokesman for office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed that Israel would continue to allow a “window” for the evacuation of civilians along a specific corridor.

President Biden confirmed Thursday that he had asked Netanyahu, in a Monday call, for a three-day pause to allow for a possible release of 239 hostages being held by Hamas inside Gaza, including 10 Americans, as well to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries and the exit of foreigners from the enclave. He also again rejected a more comprehensive cease-fire, as has Israel.
The pauses are also a good way for the IDF to conduct surveillance. Because the terrorists will try to use it to their advantage as well.

Gotta come up with a new name for those turds... maybe Hamazis?

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)

Still seems to be confusion over this. With some saying that it so not a full cease fire in the area for four hours. More like “local tactical pauses”.

I did see a report on tv which shows the Idf pausing all hostilities in some areas to allow for the locals to removed themselves from the area.

Then they guy saying that they are doing all they can do save civilian lives.

To be fair sounds like bullshit to me and just a way to placate the people falling for a total ceasefire due to the massive civilian loss of life. It makes Israel look like it’s trying to save lives. And they might well be. But to me it seems just like another type of propaganda.

Given the fact they bombed “according to the news 3 hospitals overnight due to there being suspected tunnels underneath them.

I keep swinging between seeing those Palistinians that were shown dancing and celebrating in the streets and thinking fuck them.

To then thinking of unarmed people laying in hospital beds and elderly people unable to move who are being wiped out.

Or the hundreds of Palistinians in the settled areas who have been shot dead over the past month or so. And then thinking how is Israel getting away with it.

We have Remembrance Day this weekend. And there will be a massive protest march that the prime minister wanted cancelled. It’s going to go ahead as the chief of police says it’s their right to protest.

It will be interesting to see if they have the respect to not cause trouble. If they do cause trouble then I’m sure there will be a crackdown here of sorts on anymore marches.

I guess we’ll see

Day 34 of the 24h Gaza Operation.
You keep coming in here dropping one liners as if someone in here actually mentioned any of the timelines you're pulling out of your ass. Try harder.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)

Some interesting reporting from Fox

https://www.foxnews.com/world/hamas-...-israel-report

Hamas leaders admit no interest in governing Gaza, want permanent war with Israel: report

Top leaders of Hamas admitted the group's desire to engage in a permanent war in Israel to prop up the Palestinian cause while showing no interest in governing the Gaza Strip or improving the lives of its 2 million residents, the majority of whom live in dire poverty, according to media reports.

In a series of interviews with the New York Times, Khalil al-Hayya, a member of Hamas’ highest leadership body, defended the terror group's surprise multi-pronged Oct. 7 attack on Israeli civilians, triggering Israel to respond militarily.

"We succeeded in putting the Palestinian issue back on the table, and now no one in the region is experiencing calm," he told the newspaper from Qatar.

Hamas' top brass also expressed little desire to govern Gaza or provide essential services to its people, according to the report.

"I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders and that the Arab world will stand with us," said Taher El-Nounou, a Hamas media adviser. He added that its goal is "not to run Gaza and to bring it water and electricity and such."

"Hamas, the Qassam and the resistance woke the world up from its deep sleep and showed that this issue must remain on the table," he said. "This battle was not because we wanted fuel or laborers. It did not seek to improve the situation in Gaza. This battle is to completely overthrow the situation."

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has responded heavily to the Hamas attack one month ago, with continuous airstrikes that have killed thousands in Gaza. Israeli officials have refused to discuss a ceasefire until hostages kidnapped by Hamas are returned.

While Gazans live in poverty, Hamas' top leaders are apparently living a life of luxury. Israeli officials say Hamas leaders are amassing an overwhelming jackpot of terror money for themselves in the billions of dollars.

"It's just really the numbers that are shocking, looking at the sheer amount of money that some of these terror chiefs have been able to sock away," Jonathan Schanzer, senior vice president for research at The Foundation For Defense of Democracies told Fox News.

Hamas bosses Khaled Mashaal and Ismail Haniyeh are worth an estimated $4 billion each, and political bureau leader Mousa Abu Marzouk is worth $3 billion. The group itself is estimated to earn more than $1 billion a year from a global network that includes cryptocurrency, real estate, legitimate business and taxing and extorting Gaza residents.

Hamas leaders should take out life insurance. Mossad is hazardous to their health.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE Conflict Discussion Thread III (2023)

Day 34 of the 24h Gaza Operation.
There is no “set timeline”. Nor is there any kind of “deadline(s)”.
If the IDF wants to take a YEAR to complete what they are doing, so be it.

There is no, “well, it took the IDF 4months and 13days to beat hamas, so the IDF sucks... and they didnt really win the conflict,
because it took them TOO LONG!”

Wrong answer.
They can take as long as they like, or as long as is needed.
