They are followers of what seems to be a radical form of Islam; my ex-husband is an Algerian Sunni Muslim and he most certainly does NOT condone the actions of these barbarians, and he is as disgusted and appalled as anyone, regardless of religion. Some muslim scholars say that ISIL and their ilk are actually following the word of the Qu'ran to the letter, but what they forget is that the Qu'ran was written in a time of war, and therefore should be adapted to peacetime understanding. These beasts (ISIL) seem to be using the word of Allah to justify their sickening acts, but they could just as easily be Hindu, Sikh, Catholic, Jew, it doesnt matter. They are psychopaths/sociopaths first and foremost, and (insert preferred religion here) second. Their weapon is terror, and its very effective.
