Re: Combatant Walks on Top of a Landmine in Eastern Europe.
you googled wrong mine, it was old PMN mine obviously. it was only PMN model with cutting wire delay. also it was only PMN model with separate fuse. it's obvious from wiki photos as all mine cases there have a small fuse hole opposite to striker assembly. all other PMN models, PMN-2 and newer all had an integrated fuse in waterproof case. just pull out arming pin and you're all set. my best guess is those Iraqi mines at wiki pics were never armed at all. as to deactivating, there's how some Cambodian guy do it (it is a PMN-2 mine also it was planted upside down) |

Re: Combatant Walks on Top of a Landmine in Eastern Europe.
interesting video. analysis is pure fantasy. any reasons to think so? why not PMN-2 which was produced in more quantities and is much more available at any former Soviet army storage? wrong. there's no blast directing elements in PMN models. it is basically 5 cm high plastic box 12 cm in diameter with ring shaped piece of HE inside, put in a 3 cm deep earth hole. it's basically piece of HE on a flat surface. if you need blast direction, put it on a frying pan or something. wrong. blast source is outside the boot. blast wave IS in surrounding where do you think blast inside the boot will dissipate to? OP you basically don't know what you're talking about. in unedited version of your post you talked about Kevlar shrapnel. man do you even know what Kevlar is? 2nd, do you understand when you're standing on a piece of HE, everything in your feet is shrapnel? |
